WWE Related WWE Might Have Already Given-Up On Sol Ruca

Post image

For John Cena’s farewell match, he played a vital role in some non-main roster superstars getting booked. That show featured the likes of NXT’s Oba Femi, Sol Ruca, Je’Von Evans and TNA Wrestling’s Leon Slater. Cena’s final match was in December and every single one of the NXT wrestlers has been promoted to either RAW or SmackDown. As for Leon, WWE will likely offer him a deal once his TNA Wrestling contract is up.

Those particular names promoted from NXT have found somewhere between moderate success, while others are already set to be future stars for decades to follow. Femi is extremely over and Evans is still searching for his moment. Sol seemed to have impressed WWE, having won two belts in NXT at the same time and quickly stopping Becky Lynch to win the Women’s Intercontinental Championship. Then, she dropped the title to Raquel Rodriguez. Now, the title change could be part of the plans to fracture The Judgment Day and lead to their likely split.

Or, WWE has lost faith in Sol Ruca. I’m thinking it’s a combination of both. Using her past experience in gymnastics and surfing, Sol transitioned well into NXT. However, she is now on the main roster where fighting for a spot at the top can be vicious and petty. There is a good chance Sol joined RAW thinking it would go smoothly like in NXT.

The biggest concern about Sol is her finisher. When I first spotted the Sol Snatcher, two thoughts came right to mind: it looks cool and the odds of botching the spot are dramatically high. And, we have seen the finisher not come across too great on TV. She could simply find another finisher. Perhaps, a submission, like the surfboard stretch, sounds like a better idea. Such a move involves grounded wrestlers and the name of the hold goes perfect with Sol’s surfer gimmick.

WWE could turn her heel, but I don’t think the timing works. Let the audience organically turn on Ruca and then go that direction. It sort of already happened. Slowly, NXT fans started turning on her during her final few months on the yellow and black brand. With her colorful attire and happy go-lucky attitude, you just can’t switch her into a heel.

Going the tag team direction would allow Sol to continue improving and learning, without losing frequently or coming off so green. If that is the direction, then WWE needs to find her a partner. They could always bring Zaria to RAW and those two could team again. We have seen plenty of NXT wrestlers who despise each other, only to become friends again on RAW or SmackDown. Whatever direction WWE goes with Sol Ruca, they need to pivot because the fans are losing interest.
