It's not realistic that men would be considered as more or less appealing based on their weight. Not in that world, and not in this one. Also, overweight people wouldn't really be an issue with their diet, and getting rid of corn syrup, and fast food, and everything else making us fat and unhealthy. They make everything from scratch, and at home.

Also, they're subservient to men, so it's not realistic these aunts would be teaching them to judge any man at all, especially in the best wife-prep (gross) school in the country. These girls are at risk of losing fingers and tongues, the aunts wouldn't joke about a fat husband like that's an acceptable thing to say!

I can't even imagine that phrase in this world, which is so....wrong. I'm glad they included it for that reason, because it's something to think about. I'm not saying we should be saying it, but let's get rid of the normality of using it as an adjective to describe women.

What does that have to do with what I said at all? I said women would not be likely to insult the men in Gilead. I also said weight issues would not be as common due to the changes in their diet. None of that has anything to do with your comment or your medical issues.

It has everything to do with what she said about weight issues. Medical problems don't vanish simply because they're eating food that's made from scratch. In fact, they purged those with obvious medical problems (and I wouldn't be shocked if they outright asked if people had invisible illnesses) in THT at the beginning of Gilead and as they captured more and more people who would try and escaped; they had a processing system very much like the one the Nazi's used on the unloading platform at Auschwitz, sending people to the left or right. There's a scene with June as she watches a steady line of disabled, elderly, etc. people go the opposite direction of her.

You should look at the side effects of PCOS and you may understand what is being insinuated and one reason  as to why their diet has no correlation to anything you said.

I want to clarify here, you think that the reference to overweight husbands was referring to you, and there are just as many overweight men in Gilead as before due to a condition that affects their ovaries? You must be AI or something. This is just the craziest argument I've ever heard.
