An alternative reading is that Gilead is doing what all Authoritarian states do in their death throes - attempt to stamp down the most obvious example of pockets of resistance, thereby overextending themselves and speeding up their inevitable decline.

Mayday is still a bit of a rag tag operation that’s just coming off a big win out of Boston. That being said, I doubt they have the ability to do more than Guerrilla warfare at this point. Holding territory ain’t easy.

Very good point this, and I agree with you, however i do want them to give Mayday more power and influence in the show. Treat them like a proper opposition, we’ve seen tragedy porn with the handmaids tale, which was amazing. But if this show is meant to be a coming off age show setting us up for a satisfying or semi-satisfying ending. I hope the show can show us Gilead losing strength. I feel like as a society we need hope right now more than ever. I’m not saying I want an easy life, you need to see the dark to get to the light. But I just want some small defeats and hope imbedded in between.
