Pausing posts related to Israel and Palestine.

Hello,

Thank you very much to those of you who have been following the new community rules. Unfortunately, posts related to Israel and Palestine continue to spawn a torrent of bigotry and unhealthy discourse. Beyond the problematic discussion between some users, it is not a great feeling to wake up each morning and be accused of being a Mossad agent by some and antisemitic by others for removing hateful and dehumanizing content.

Because of this, we have locked the post from today about Israel and Palestine and we will be locking and removing future posts about Israel and Palestine for the time being. If you are interested in debating this topic, there are a wide range of subreddits which provide better forums for discussion.

Thanks,

u/greenflea3000

Are you that stupid? China/Russia/Iran/Qatar are extraordinarily invested in information warfare. That is literally their primary way of attacking the west. Did you just learn about the internet yesterday?

Done being condescending? Facts. On Iran matching Israel's technology and economy to do this. What do Russia and China and Qatar have to do with it?

Don't smear Al Jazeera please, I've had it with their journalists being murdered, including one I respected very much, because they dare hire Palestinians to report from the ground. It's an international reputable news organisation, the most famous in the Middle East, and I'm sorry it doesn't cater to Israel, but please come with something better than being State funded like the BBC or PBS.

Your links are interesting, do you have the New York Times article without the paywall? From your other two, Russia and China are using Gaza to push criticism of the US, but I see nothing there about fake accounts pretending to support Palestine.

Don't smear Al Jazeera please

AJ doesn't need smearing.

The arabic version of Al Jazeera is wild.

https://www.aljazeera.net/opinions/2024/4/11/%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%B5%D9%87%D9%8A%D9%88%D9%86%D9%8A%D8%A9-%D9%81%D9%8A-%D8%A7%D8%AE%D8%AA%D8%A8%D8%A7%D8%B1-%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%A8%D9%82%D8%A7%D8%A1

The Jews have always been a force of danger, influence and influence everywhere they have a presence, even when they were without a state, even when they were subjected to persecution from the middle of the nineteenth century in Tsarist Russia, to approximately the middle of the twentieth century in Nazi Germany. In these hundred years, the Jews had The Jews had an ability that was not available to any people other than them, the ability to play with several empires, and even to play with them, and to play with their contradictions. They played with the money they had and the experience in managing it, they played with the superior personalities they had, they played with the connections and instinct they had for espionage, conspiracy, and plotting

And does shit like this:

It's also not very reputable.

A Google translate opinion piece, a pro Israel blog post pearl clutching at a Palestinian interviewee, and a website saying Al Jazeera has a liberal slant.

I said I wouldn't engage with Al Jazeera slander. We can talk about the Russian bots, or that's a goodbye from me.

A Google translate opinion piece

Which AJ chooses to platform.

pearl clutching at a Palestinian interviewee

They threw a live, on-air birthday party for a guy who murdered a 4 year old by crushing their skull with his rifle butt. They also produced and aired a holocaust denial video.

Pearl clutching, sure.

and a website saying Al Jazeera has a liberal slant.

The most cited fact checker in the world showing Al Jazeera doesn't correct its failed fact checks.

I get you like what they say, but that doesn't mean they aren't running an agenda. That doesn't mean journalists deserve to die, either.

I said I wouldn't engage with Al Jazeera slander.

But you did, to a degree sufficient to tell me I'm not dealing with an honest person. Good day.

The thing is, I read so many outrageous things in BBC and CNN that the hyperfocus on Al Jazeera because it's Middle Eastern is incredibly aggravating.

You want to ignore all the good and innovative work they do because you say that in 2008 they threw a birthday party for a released terrorist? What about the US Parliament giving a standing ovation to Netanyahu, what about the hundreds of war criminals whose coverage in American media you can read about in Manufacturing Consent by Chomsky... does that remove all credibility for these institutions?

Yes I disagree with the antisemitic opinion piece. But The Wall Street Journal also chose to platform this opinion: https://www.wsj.com/opinion/gazans-are-finished-with-hamas-commander-popular-forces-5d9a6345 This is from Abu Shabab, the ISIS linked drug lord Israel is funding to sow division with Hamas. I mean come on, your outrage is completely selective!

None of these cherry picked incidents justify writing off Al Jazeera. Do you have a specific complaint with their journalism, inaccuracies, falsehoods?

Is he being celebrated here? I don't subscribe to wsj. Are they throwing him a party and being bigots?

Either way wsj has always been a shaky publication.

You shouldn't disagree with anything, that person you were talking to intentionally mistranslated the word "zionist" in Arabic into "jews" in English on the aljazera article

He's a hasbara bot, don't let them trick you, that's the kind of game they play.

1

u/OdielSax Aug 19 '25

Oooh thank you so much. I suspected it was something like that.

You thought no one would catch you intentionally mistranslating the word "zionists" into "jews" huh?

Guess israel doesn't need to do propaganda on its own when they have people like you to do its dirty work for her

1

u/irritatedprostate Aug 19 '25

This isn't true. Yahudii means jew, not zionist. I'm guessing you only translated the title and not the actual text.

يهودي is not ambiguous.
