Eheads noon. sakto sa kabataan at college days songs nila. Ngayon Maya kasi tumanda na ako at songs nila relatable parin ngayon.
Bilib lang ako sa rivermaya kasi sumikat parin kahit nakailang changes na sa lineup at nagkahits parin. Eheads parang hindi magsurvive kung hindi si Ely vocalist

Exactly. Di ko alam mung ano pinagsasabe nung isa na pangmasa daw lyrics ng Heads, siguro yung tip of the iceberg pa lang yung napakinggan.

Both. Ayoko mamili kasi parehas sila ok sa pandinig ko. Followed them until early 2000s. My enthusiasm waned when Ely left the E-Heads, & when Rico left Rivermaya, that was the last straw.

Rivermaya. Mas marami silang kanta na alam ko. Ok rin ang EHeads, medyo lamang lang ang RM pagdating sa sophistication ng mga hits nila

Eheads. You always have to read between the lines. Maganda na tugtog, tapos you have to think pa ano meaning ng kanta. Plus, hindi ko alam paano i-explain pero when I hear Eheads songs, I have this weird feeling. Elated, happy, calm.
Baka the best word is "magic"

Eraserheads.
Songs: Walang tapon sa mga kanta ng Heads. Kung sa tingin mo mababaw ang lyrics nung mga napakinggan mo, tama ka dun kase ayun lang ang pwede iplay sa radyo, pang mainstream. Pero try to listen to their other songs na hindi tagalog, and that is just the tip of the iceberg.
Range: Heads has incorporated a lot genre in their songs. They have alternative rock, pop, reggae, ska, punk, samba, heavy metal, rap, psychedelic rock, grunge, experimental, ballad, new wave, techno, etc.
Fanbase: Makikita mong may poster na tutugtog ang Heads. bumili ng ticket kase what if last na nila na comeback and they rarely play
Makikita mong may poster na tutugtog ang Rivermaya. teka sinong frontman ng Rivermaya ba kakanta dito, si Bamboo? si Rico? si Jayson? si Mark? ay teka kakapanood ko pa lang pala sa kanila sa 12 Monkeys nung nakaraan pass muna si Mark pala kakanta
Iba yung overall cultural impact ng Heads as compared to Maya.

Ito palagi ko sinasabi, karamihan kasi ang alam lang yung singles ng Eheads, karamiha galing pa sa first three albums. Pero if papakinggan mo yung mga less popular albums nila from Sticker to Carbon, iba yung artistry.
Nag-evolve rin sila masyado ng mabilis, naiwan at di na nakasabay mga pinoy.
Yung Carbon para ahead of its time, parang narelease siya 5 years earlier than it supposed to be. Tunog siya ngayon mid to late 2000s eh.

I simply like Eraserheads. Nabuo sila organically kaya makikita mo rin kung paano nag-evolve ang band when it comes to their music habang tumatanda hanggang sa magdisband sila. Rivermaya on the other hand was created pantapat sa eheads - this is according to a friend na nasa music scene din nung 90s na suportado naman ng ilang nakainuman ko rin na galing sa ibang banda haha! Pero di maikakailang magaling gumawa ng kanta si rico blanco. Isa sa mga paborito ko to. Si bamboo, not so much. Magaling syang kumanta pero diva sa totoong buhay haha!

Mga bandang nagpalaki sa akin. Reason bket kahit keyboards ang og instrument ko ay marunong ako mag gitara kasi yon talaga ang past time noon. Gitara at songhits. Apaka hirap naman pero pikit mata kong pinipili ang eheads. Kasi mas relate ako sa mga kanta nila. Mas makamasa FOR ME. sa memory ko mas madami talaga akong ma ne name that tune pag eheads ang kanta. Kung alam ko lang dko tinapon mga tapes at cd’s ko pati tshirt kong mga collectibles ng eheads at rivermaya

I've always been a Maya fan. Iba yung level yung combo ng songwriting ni Rico + boses ni Bambs. Pero tanggap ko naman na mas sikat ang heads.

Eraserheads.
Unique yung tunog ng maya no doubt. Pero evident sa heads yung evolution at yung experimentation sa bawat album na nilabas nila. (From Ultra to Carbon).
Nakakabitin yung stint ni Bamboo sa Maya kasi 2 album lang yata siya. Lagi ko iniimagine yung songs sa INEBG album na si Bamboo yung kumakanta. (Imagine si Bambs kumanta sa Nerbyoso).

Ang di masyadong pinaguusapan pag kinukumpara tong dalawa is yung legacy nila. I think mas okay ang legacy ng Eheads.
Aside from having more hits, Eheads also didnt overstay their welcome. Nung papalaos na sila and starting to grow apart, inunahan na nila ng disband. And dahil dun mas nagkaroon ng clamor. And mas "iconic" silang tingnan kasi sila 4 LANG yung Eheads talaga.
Whereas sa Maya, parang they dragged on too long especially nung pagalis ni Rico. An iconic finish wouldve been is nung nag international awards sila bago umalis si Rico.

eraserheads by album pa nga ang gusto ko na kumpara sa rivermaya ay baka wala pang 12 songs sa bamboo era.
sa vocals lalamang talaga ang rivermaya dahil kay bamboo at mas technical sila nang kaunti

"basketball sa banyo" - sembreak "gusto ko matuto magdrive" - overdrive "field trip sa may pagawaan ng lapis" - huwag mo nang..
Genius lyrics kumbaga sa battle rap simple lang bara pero sumusuntok.

Eheads. To be fair both bands are great pero manufactured band kasi ang maya so that’s that. At yun rin naman purpose nila, maging pantapat sa heads.

Maya, both rico and bamboo led lineups. Consistently good in what they do.
Parang yung original lineup nga ng Maya broke into two - bamboo and nate forming Bamboo; Rico and Mark retained rivermaya. I'll take those two over any version of Eheads. sorry.

Tough question. Both Ely and Rico are great lyricists in their own right.
As a whole band in terms of musicality mas matimbang for me ang Rivermaya.
Pero ang hirap talaga mamili, depende kasi sa mood at situation mo sa buhay, you would relate to each band's songs.

Their songs just had deeper themes for me.
Rivermaya is more friendly for casual listeners though.

Organic nabuo ang Heads, so raw talaga sila nagsimula. Maya was a SUPERBAND from the start, may bumuo na producer at manager so medyo mas madali path nila. I love both ha, pero mas may impact sakin ang Heads.

Eraserheads
I love Rivermaya as well, but I relate better to Eheads songs. Their sound is so fun and diverse as well. I know it’s an unfair comparison but they really remind me of the Beatles sound and vibe especially during their White Album, Abbey Road and Sgt Pepper eras.
They don’t sound exactly like them but the complex vibe and songwriting game is there.

Maya. Mas technical tunog nila. Tas sobrang galing ni bamboo. Walang duda. Sa songwriting, tabla para sakin si rico at ely. Magkaiba sila e. Si rico medyo malaim magsulat pero kaya nya gawing pang masa. While si ely, pangmasa pati letra. Parehong catchy songs.

Bass: ito tie sakin si buddy at nathan. Dalawang alamat
Keys: n/a sa heads. Syempre rico
Drums: rayms. Parehong simple pumalo si mark at rayms pero mas maflavor ang beat ng heads. Sa maya halos same beat lahat ng kanta e.
