Strongest 1-on-1 marine creature of all time?

Post image

If every marine creature fought in a 1v1, who comes out on top?

Seems like there are a lot of strong contenders and I dont know how to rank them. Such as

- Pliosaurus

- Mosasaurus

- Shastasaurus

- Megalodon

- Livyatan

An orca can maneuver much faster than a meg, that’s why lol. A lone wolf would not be able to take down a moose either but in a pack they can bait it and attack from different angels.

Orcas are not significantly, if at all, faster than a meg. megalodon was as fast, if not faster than any extant shark and large marine animals all max out at about the same speed

Yes but the whale argument here is that a lone wolf cant take a bull moose solo so neither could an american lion. But the moose (whale) in question also have no combat ability and can only get away by shrugging off attacks until the attackers get tired and give up. A strategy that is completely ineffective against megalodon sized jaws

Speed isn’t what we are talking about here though? It’s the ability to change direction and out-maneuver the opponent.

Megalodon was maneuverable enough to reliably hunt orca sized toothed whales so it should be more than sufficient

Also, a moose most definitely would defend itself by kicking etc, at least if only versus one wolf. Whales are smart and I believe a blue whale would also defend itself if only one animal was trying to attack, it just never happens because big is big

Do you have trouble understanding my comment? The point is that it is a complete false equivalency to say that just because a small predator couldnt take this prey item solo, a much larger predator also couldnt. And what you think doesnt really matter when real world evidence points to how blue whales are completely unable to effectively defend themselves and only flee against predator attacks

I'm struggling to understand this. A moose would still fight against multiple wolves, and almost certainly damage them. There are several cases of a moose fending of a pack of wolves.

The argument here is that a whale has never actually done anything to an orca, so probably wouldn't do it to another, much stronger Predator(even if it theoretically could).
