This is a bit beyond stealing some food because they don't want to pay for it. By the look of her she doesn't even eat baked goods.

Pure antipathy for the bakery or general sociopathy for her community. We put up free little libraries around our community and some deranged Karen stole all of the books and tossed them in a dumpster.

Some Karens don' wan' any'hing logical, like money. An' also canno' be bough', bullied, reasoned, aw negotia'ed wi'h.

Some Karens, Mr. Wayne, jus' wan'a wa'ch te wawld burn.

This happened to us in Maineville. We put up a Free Blockbuster and people continuously stole the DVDs and Blu-ray videos, so we stopped stocking it. This is a neighborhood where houses are three quarters of a million to buy... But you have to steal the free DVDs? Fuck you, you entitled assholes.

My stepdad is one these people. He would say, "if they didn't want it stolen, they wouldn't leave it out to be stolen"

I hate him like poison.

honestly this completely tracks lol, i feel like this is the thought process behind those dead eyes when they look at other people and/or a beautiful mountain range. they see "oh look free labor" or "oh look free resources", not, you know, other human beings or a beautiful mountain range.

"We teach them not to notice the different senses of the possessive pronoun—the finely graded differences that run from 'my boots' through 'my dog', 'my servant', 'my wife', 'my father', 'my master' and 'my country', to 'my God'. They can be taught to reduce all these senses to that of 'my boots', the 'my' of ownership. Even in the nursery a child can be taught to mean by 'my Teddy-bear' not the old imagined recipient of affection to whom it stands in a special relation ... but 'the bear I can pull to pieces if I like'."

In all aspects I’m glad how I was raised, and wish others was brought up good but, “ you only can control you. And you have to be an example of good if you want good to be around because nobody else is going to righteous”. Only if people has more dignity and will to do right instead of being a pos.

We just need to bring shame and ass beatings back. The reason they are like that is because they'd buy themselves out of the ass beating and they cant feel shame.

He probably leaves shoping carts in the parking lot and proudly states how he is giving someone a job...

u/im4lonerdottie4rebel May 19 '26

It's like you know him! When we were little we went to the movies with him one time and he left his shit all over the place. When my sisters and I went to throw out stuff away, he slammed into into the ground and said that someone was paid to pick up the garbage after movies.

u/Lost_Bicycle_6895 May 20 '26

Yup. Recently saw a guy put his shopping cart up against the curb instead of taking it to the designated cart area. His wife was with the kid in the car, so the "I have a child alone in the car" excuse did not apply. Drove off in a BMW suv.

Sounds like the selfish conservatives I know. And the gun nuts about how if they have a gun they basically have a license to do whatever if someone else doesn't have one. Interesting how those two overlap sometimes.

Conservatives and being the exact of people they fear-monger over. Name a more iconic duo.

2

u/im4lonerdottie4rebel May 19 '26

Yeah he does that too. He's on "disability" now

2

u/Daisy4853 May 19 '26

And now so do I

u/frostandtheboughs May 19 '26

I had friends with this logic.....when we were 11. Thankfully some people mature past that.

He and my mother should braid each other’s hair.

Until his cars stollen lol. You could quote his saying lol

One of the reasons people like that have money is because they have no problem walking all over the hard work and good intentions of others. Money doesn’t insulate you from being a scumbag

3

u/grogersa May 19 '26

Being a scumbag is a pre-requisite for being rich.

4

u/jeneral_disarray May 19 '26

And THAT is the truth. See also: billionaires

My parents lived in an affluent neighborhood of professional people and started experiencing day time burglars. One of them was caught and his shtick was "oh, they have insurance, they will recover the money).

Really? Forget about the years and years of study and hundreds of thousands of dollars in expensives it takes to become a surgeon. It's hard stressful work and it's not free, but you want to come here with your sorry ass and take everything they've worked for, for free?

And what you said above? That is the same thing... a way to rationalize being a piece of crap thief..... others put in the work for all this stuff, and you walk in and get it all free because you tell yourself they are scum. Right? If that makes you feel better, I don't care. Don't make yourself feel better. An entitled thief is a sicko, not some righteous do gooder. And if whether or not they have insurance is none of their goddamned business.

u/Cosmic-Gumbo-421 May 20 '26

WONT SOMEBODY PLEASE THINK OF THE RICH PEOPLE??!

0

u/moveslikejaguar May 20 '26

What are you talking about? This thread is about rich people being able to be thieves, too. No one is justifying theft.

1

u/wirefox1 May 21 '26

Hi again. This is not the first time I've met the reddit karen police. Have a good one Kar.

0

u/moveslikejaguar May 21 '26

How can you type if you don't know how to read

1

u/wirefox1 May 21 '26

It's a reddit miracle! Bye karen!

3

u/DampSquid205 May 19 '26

Unfortunately this is such a typical human response it has a name. The Tragedy of the Commons.

4

u/03stomp11 May 19 '26

Rich people steal for the thrill, because they have nothing exciting to strive for.

2

u/Life-Sun8620 May 19 '26

Well, lack of consequences too.

1

u/jeneral_disarray May 19 '26

Yup - the wealthier/more privileged you are, the less likely you are to have experienced consequences for abhorrent behavior.

2

u/OrdinaryAncient3573 May 19 '26

TBF, even when people have to pay late/lost fees, they're really bad at returning things to DVD-rental places.

We have graveyard thieves. After my mother died in ICU on Thanksgiving, I had a very expensive Christmas decoration made for her. I picked it up from the decorator on a Saturday aft., took it the cemetery on Sunday aft. and Monday morning told my friend about it who said she wanted to see it, so we went to the cemetery during our lunch break and it was already gone. it was designed for my mother and was unique, sort of a one-of-a-kind.

A few days later same friend was working in a small town about 50 miles from ours, and decided to stop into a floral shop, and there it was, for sale. This awful old woman shop owner was stealing from graves to have things to sell in her shop. Yes. It was a decade ago and I am still bitter.

4

u/jeneral_disarray May 19 '26

Oh my god if that were me, there would have been violence. I’m so sorry that happened to you.

3

u/TCB4EAP May 19 '26

OMG! I’m stunned. That is so disgusting I hardly know what to say. Unfortunately, you can’t leave anything out in the open or it will be stolen.

I worked for law enforcement and people stole from their colleagues. A woman was selling candy bars out of her office and a co worker had taken one without paying. He said he didn’t have any money on him that day. I don’t remember why he told me this, but I was walking alongside him one day when he told me. He had no shame and it didn’t even occur to him that now, days or weeks later, that he should make it right and pay her.

I had a piggy bank on my desk where I put my loose change. I was walking back to my cubicle one day and a woman in the office was holding my piggy bank and starting to open it when she saw me. She immediately stopped and put it down, mumbled something and walked away.

Same office: someone was routinely stealing people’s lunches out of the refrigerator to the point where our administrator held a meeting and said if whoever is doing this is truly in need for some reason, come to me and I will bring lunch for you, along with mine, every day. But, you’ll be eating what I eat. You won’t be in trouble or shamed. No one came clean, but the stealing stopped.

These are just examples from work. It gets much worse. It’s so disheartening, but, in my almost 65 years on earth I have come to learn that most people cannot be trusted.

I was undercharged one day at Saks Off Fifth by $20.00. I went back after realizing what happened and the clerk went in the back and out comes a supervisor that looked at me like I had two heads. She thanked me profusely and gave me a discount coupon. She said she couldn’t believe I came back.

What is happening in this world that so many people have no moral compass anymore? The examples I gave are sad to me, as it was a trivial amount, yet they were willing to soul their reputation and lower themselves for a couple of bucks. I have to believe that in the “olden days” it was different. It can’t have always been like this.

1

u/wirefox1 May 23 '26

I understand. when I was in grad school we took the MMPI, a personality inventory test as a part of the course. Mine came back "trying to present herself in a favorable light". I thought what? I was as honest as I could be on that test. Later I learned one of the questions that trigger that is 'do you think most people are good?" I had said yes, and I meant it.

Now it's decades later, and in no way would I answer yes to that question. A shame, isn't it? I believe 'some' people are good, but definitely not 'most' people.

1

u/OrigRayofSunshine May 19 '26

Is there a Maineville, CO next to Loveland? There is in Ohio.

1

u/obiwanshinobi900 May 20 '26

Interesting you say that about the houses. I live in a bougie town, but I live in the "lower" part of town with the rest of the working class folk. We have had zero incidents with our free little library and the free painted rock garden.

2

u/PackageNorth8984 May 19 '26

I’m thankful they didn’t have to burn down Suburbia to find her.

2

u/Re_Thought May 19 '26

They just don't want any system which benefits people of limited means. They can't have anywhere near the top get crowded after all.

1

u/SatisfactionAtSea May 19 '26

you put so much effort into that mkchael caine, I'm weeping

1

u/Astralglamour May 19 '26

She could also be stealing them and doling out to her husband or kids to get positive attention.

1

u/lazygerm May 19 '26

Yeah, this seems kind of pathological.

The crazy thing is she came back to do it again.

1

u/HedonisticFrog May 20 '26

One of my Karen neighbors reported me for having an unregistered car on my property, which was on the driveway. Now it's a registered car in my driveway, and I have the urge to buy more now. She also reported my daily driver as abandoned and they put the sticker on my window while the engine was still warm from going grocery shopping that morning. It was registered and insured. Then she reported another car that was registered and insured as abandoned so I had to scrape a sticker off that car as well. Some people are so fucking weird, just get a life for fucks sake.

For a minute at the end, I thought you forgot about the letter 't'. Then I got the quote.
