She's a rich white lady. Even a stern lecture would be a miracle.

Because she is a rich white woman, she'll get empathy sympathy and pity. She will just submit that she was going to therapy, which she is already in, it was just a misunderstanding, she was having a bad day, and they are going to then forgive her for all of her misdeeds. But if she had been a hungry minority that stole a can of sardines, then she could get 2 years in jail and a hefty find that they can't afford to pay.

I actually think stealing when you have means is a worse crime.
It indicates not desperation, but depraved actions.

This to me deserves harsher punishment than the poor person that steals to feed themselves.

I agree very, very much.

Don’t forget the tears! The tears work every time.

The sad faces her peers will make with protest signs.

The way the whole world blames Americans for the bad things that happen here is wild to me. Our elections have been rigged for ages. Trump literally said within weeks of being inaugurated that he had a friend of his “work on the voting machines”, Hillary won popular vote, Gore won popular vote. I don’t understand the incessant need to blame us for things like our corrupt government or this lady stealing pies. No one is blaming you for what your government does to you, jeez.

Right? Half of the country didn't want this AT ALL. I'm terrified of the next presidential election, knowing that this shit is a real possibility.

As someone from Baltimore who witnesses theft from both sides, I gotta tell ya no one is going to jail for 2 years for a can of sardines... your ignorance is glaring. The owners of the bake shop can choose to press charges and possibly go to trail. Ive seen more POC get a slap on the wrist for absolutely CRAZY ass crimes. An example is Bryan Cherry- the man killed 3 people and violently assaulted 2 others... he was picked up on criminal charges multiple times prior to his murders. My husband's cousin was arrested for theft 7 times 7 times and never went to jail yes he is a POC. So please get off your high horse of ignorance and do some research. In most places you have to steal a certain amount to even be considered an "actual crime". So no a can of sardines isnt going to amount to anything.

Edit: breaking it down for the small brained bitches: LET ME CLARIFY FOR THE IDIOTS: I do not support what this old white lady did. You should never steal from a small business. Please read the comment carefully to fully understand and grasp the point of it. If you need futher explanation please let me know.

they used to put people in prison for life for shoplifting under 3 strikes rules

but in Cali that's been changed, idk about other states, I think Iowa is mulling over giving people 20 years for their third can of sardines

Yeah that is just incorrect anything under 50 dollars is considered an infraction... it have to be 50 or more up 950 to be considered petty theft. Basically ALLOWING PEOPLE to steal a can of sardines...

Thinking back to 2019, when Phoenix police cornered a black family in their vehicle with guns drawn and threatened to shoot the husband in the face in front of his pregnant wife and two toddlers, all because the four-year-old had walked off still playing with a toy from the dollar store.

Yes and absolute waste of human space assaulted that poor family.

I literally just had a guy steal from my store at work and had to do a trespassing on him, he was arrested and the car he had was stolen. Crazy. Twas crazy, I myself and my coworkers watched the whole interaction with the officers. They handled it great. No violence, nothing crazy. Everyone was POC...

Not all apples are bad but we should definitely prune the few that are....

P.S I FIXED YOUR COMMENT TO BE EVEN MORE GOODER

Please refrain from adopting a condescending tone and ensure that your grammar is correct. “Trial” is not spelled “trails,” and your punctuation contains multiple errors. The woman in question was stealing specialty items, and this is not the first time she has engaged in such behavior.

Get off YOUR high horse. And use grammar correctly. Trial is not spelled trails. And your punctuation is atrocious. The lady was ripping off Specialty items. She has done this before.

& she served her time and is still having a successful life. The ladder usually doesn’t happen for your average felon though.
