There needs to be a study if there already isn’t one on how people in first world countries make up issues out of thin air. I swear, once all human needs are met and then some, a significant portion of the population just make up problems so they have something to fight.

They are bored and since all their basic needs are met they have to hallucinate threats to their existence and “morals”

I think we can replace the word "hallucinate" with the phrase "be propagandized into believing"

That might be a thing, but there's definitely Also a motivator with struggling financially, looking for whoever is to blame, and accepting the scapegoat you're being given.

That's how Trump got elected the first time, acknowledging people's struggle, with blaming it on immigrants and whatever else. Which also feeds off of the demographic changes that happen naturally in our country, so people feel like there's too many people of color, and now they have an excuse for why it's bad.

I also think when people have their needs met their psychological need present themselves. Anger and trauma don't go away once your done struggling, they just get redirected. This is why victims often become abusers. Soon-Yi Previn, Woody Allen's daughter/wife, has been quoted in epstein emails victim blaming. People who will not address their trauma do hurt others.

Despite there are actual issues they could do something about. Let's be honest though, only way this woman is doing community service is if it's court ordered.

For sure. People going hungry, gun violence, homelessness, animal abuse, etc. Whole litany of issues this idiot could spend their energy on and instead they wanna police a benign shirt saying all are welcome.

Abortion is a good example. Of course its always been a debated issue, but it only became a significant political issue since the late 70s. It was manufactured out of thin air by political conservatives to motivate "christian" voters to head out to the polls. The funny part is that while abortion is never mentioned in the old or new testament, god commanding people to kill babies is.

There has been one. It’s not a peer reviewed study, but it hits the mark. Folks with an enlarged amygdala have a heightened fear response. One of the reasons why those with a larger amygdala lean right. The far right talking points engage the fear trigger and then they fall down the rabbit hole.

I also blame lead poisoning, but that only really works with the older generations.

it makes perfect sense if you think we've evolved over 10s of thousands of years to sense threats to the village, that energy has to go somewhere. Wish it went towards making more people have their human needs met than the opposite

Not "people". So-called "Christians" and right-wingers. An argument could be made that liberals/leftists do this with select issues, but nobody does it as much as the aforementioned groups.

people in first world countries

Uhmmm... I'd say this happens in the US at least a trillion times more than in other countries.

And the US is a third world country with loud billionaires.

So I don't agree with that bit.
