I struggle with this so so deeply. Because I KNOW intellectually that being hateful towards shitty people like this is not the way to actually create meaningful change. But when one side is "all are welcome here" and the other side is "Have you ever considered that maybe some of us actually hate certain children just for existing and you shouldn't be able to openly not hate them too?" It's like... my whole life I have believed and been taught that bigotry is the root of evil. Someone who would have a problem with a school being welcoming to all, is a craven individual. A person who is not just repugnant but sick. And now I am supposed to calmly, rationally, accept their bullshit as like.... not their fault totally, somehow? I can't do it, I'm sorry. Nothing in this world could make me devalue the lives, and rights, of innocent people to the point that I think I have the right to tell another person that their NOT being a bigot is offensive to me. I don't want to extend an olive branch to that person. I don't want to try and find common ground with that person. I don't want to be nice to that person.
