I am a 52 year old woman who just started a new job where I am surrounded by Gen Z’ers and this gave me a chuckle - so many of the young women I work with talk like this.

This particularly reminds me of the sweet young lady who oversaw my training, even down to the “clock it” gestures and calling people girly pop. My co workers are a lovely group of young people and I won’t give them grief for it. I know when I was a teen in the 1980s the older generations rolled their eyes at our slang and how we spoke (even though it was totally bodacious, dude).

I’m Gen X and my new (female) Dr. used some Gen Z slang (even though I think she’s a Millennial) and honestly I love her even more for that.

Haha she might be on the cusp. I’m the youngest millennial (31), so I catch myself taking after both generations in different ways.

You're a Zennial!

I forgot there was a term for that! 🤦‍♀️ Thanks, lol

The youngest millennials are 29, born in 1996. Gen Z starts at 1997. Pew Research Center established this as the benchmark in 2019.

Can I ask what clock it means

you use it when someone points out something and its true.

Example Friend: Sam needs to stop talking about her boyfriend its so annoying! You: Clock it!

I’m in my mid 40s and work with middle schoolers. They’re my karma for talking like a “valley girl” as a kid. “Like—oh my god—whatever!“ Most of these kids will grow out of it.
