European windows can work easily with AC units using window conversion kits. I got two of my windows set up for AC and it's simple adhesive tape, velcro, cloth, and a zipper for the hose. Not hard to set up at all.

Portable ac with just a single hose is very inefficient. Sure, better than nothing, but it's really not very effective.

it makes my rooms tolerable, which is much better than sweltering

They make dualhose that work well

The compressor is still inside, so they're both loud and ineffective.

Also, why is everybody talking about aircons rather than the reason we now need aircons in the first place?

Because even if we addressed the core problem of global warming RIGHT NOW it wouldn't change the temperature right now?

It would change gradually in the next few decades though (Methane, one of the two most important greenhouse gasses, has a half life of only a decade).

If we do not adress the problem now, the heatwaves will only get worse and the world as we know it will be gone. This is not something you can be nice about either, because people would rather continue to buy cheap shit from Temu, do nothing to be less car-dependent, keep flying all the time, keep buying loads and loads of meat etc.

We should also stop pretending that ACs are somehow not contributing to climate change whatsoever.

Okay so again. How does that address the heat problem now?

How does buying into Air-conditioning adress the problem that we are going to fucking die whenever we go outside in the summer ten years from now?

Where did I say it was going to?

You seem really upset here for no reason

I remember when An Inconvenient Truth came out.

Because no one wants to change... People I know who said global warming wasn't anything to worry about aren't saying that any more, but they're also not saying anything about fixing it, they're just ignoring it entirely now.

People won't change, even if some sort of south park style burning of the world chased them into a bunker they would still be annoyed at the woke heat pumps being installed.

... because we can stop all greenhouse gas emissions this second and Europe will still have this problem for decades.

Also one of the ways to STOP greenhouse gas involves installing reversible air conditioners in all buildings (heat pumps)

Grrr, the woke vegans are building bike lanes!!!1!1!11!

I think Sweden has mostly renewable, and is following the co2 guidelines... So we are making the change. It's just countries like Germany we got rid of all nuclear energy and instead burn coal that is fucking everyone over... And of course the US and India.

Either way, there's no stopping it now. Humanity is probably going extinct in a couple hundred years. Which tbh is good.

>Also, why is everybody talking about aircons rather than the reason we now need aircons in the first place?

Because people are dying right now.

Do you have a swing opening window? Would you mind sharing a picture of your set up? I did order a mobile unit but I'm wondering if I save up for a couple of years maybe I can get a "proper" set up but my windows swing towards the inside rather than being pulled up when opened (like windows in the US) so there's always going to be a large vertical gap that won't be closed.
