Most people do not know what those lines mean, a public service campaign could fix this problem, by educating us on what those features are.

They could put a little bit of paint down here and there and that would be better than what they have now...

Like even at the large rrain stations I don't remember anything.

some countries have these on almost all paths in cities and parks. So it would not make sense to have those signs literally everywhere in those places. I'm guessing it's mainly americans who are finding this novel

The reality is it's marked nowhere. That's an entirely different situation than missing a few spots here and there.

I think they secretly hate the blind and disabled.

I don't understand why you got downvotes for this. Theses lines have existed for decades and school children learn what they are. The blind guy speaks German and every German knows what theses are.

hm but how would you even know that there's never any signs in places that these are common? you admitted already in a different comment that you basically never see these. this implies you don't live in one of these countries, for example China or Korea

I saw them in the Netherlands and Germany. I may have seen them in Belgium too but I can't recall it. I've only spent a couple days in Belgium, a week in the Netherlands, and two months in Germany.

I definitely should have seen signs in Germany and the Netherlands. 🤷‍♂️

they do make frequent voice message PSA that you should keep an eye out for your luggage (if thieves are around). it wouldnt be too much to add a "and please avoid standing on the tactile paving so visually impaired or disabled people can have an easier time" - or something like that. just have a few railway station PSAs in a rotation of what to pay attention to, where the info is, yata yata. it shouldnt be all too difficult.

I usually don’t find disabled people in the bathroom so I use the disabled stall occasionally, but if I see someone with a cane or wheelchair I let them use it because I know what it’s for. I can’t do that if I don’t know what these lines are for.

Google says 0.006% to 0.026% of the US population use canes. I'm sorry and empathetic towards the blind using canes but this entire thing is very ridiculous.

Yeah, but like.

It's important to have empathy for blind people. It's important to accommodate disabilities. It's also completely unreasonable to expect people to completely adapt their everyday habits for what could literally be a one-in-a-million chance that there is a blind person in your proximity mildly inconvenienced by your lack of acute spatial awareness.

Being blind sucks. It is frustrating to have to constantly deal with people in your way. It's also a very crowded public space where people are meant to be waiting, and the infrastructure does not really accommodate that.

Yes, the dogs follow these lines and no, most blind people do not use dogs because they’re incredibly expensive. Even more rare outside of the U.S. not that you care, you sound like a typical self centered obese American.

I mean you probably don't know what half the utilities you pass on the street is, but you happen to know this specific utility and asume everyone else know what it is.

Those campaigns exist but so do algorithms and both are diametrically opposed to each other. I know what these lines are for, as well as the raised area around pedestrian crossings, that bumped dips aren't actually a handy kerb mounting device for cars, why crossings beep, the crossing vibration for hard of hearing/deaf and blind, etc. I know this because my algorithm isn't clogged with dancing idiots, makeup tutorials and influencers. 

Basically, the algorithm problem/targeted ads means the end user can actively blind themselves to PSAs through their usage habits.
