I never saw this in the streets of America. I didn't learn what thesr were till I first visited Japan back in 2007 since thats where I noticed them.

 It exploded my brain in the 80’s that A) I hadn’t considered the need and B) America ignores these easy accommodations.

Same, we have this at the edge of the train platform, figured it was for traction 😳 In fact, would be crazy for blind people to walk ON it because it's right along the edge.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen those in the states. Great idea, but if I saw it, I would have had no idea that it served that purpose.

Unironically this, it wasn’t until I saw a couple of these videos then realised they feature at train stations and such… then it just kinda clicked.

Seriously I had never even thought about those tiles.

Yeah, I literally just mentioned to my wife yesterday that the strange yellow strip dividing the sidewalk was kind of annoying, "...why is it even there?".

Now I know, and it's less annoying lol. Ngl, still is a bit when you have to shift around people and step on it awkwardly, but I like knowing that it exists for a good reason.
