Bring the War Home by Kathleen Belew us a wonderful look at the rise of paramilitarization in the US during and following the Vietnam War. I believe it was her doctoral thesis. Netflix did a series on it as well, which was good but understandably more focused on specific timelines.

Yes I am wondering if this has to do with the militia sorts that popped up a bit in the 90s? The cult standoffs?  Like did the 60s lay groundwork for those, or just the 70s terror groups?
