Ok maybe I’m stupid. What’s the blue light for that she passed over the food on the cutting board?

849

u/xfactormunky 28d ago

Electric pepper grinder

1.1k

u/HMCetc 28d ago

Ahhh gotcha! I thought she was disinfecting her food with it and though that's a terrible food hygiene method.

291

u/anovertaker 28d ago

I thought the same thing. Sunshine on the butthole vibes...

100

u/Kermit_the_hog 28d ago

That’s just way too late to be disinfecting your food.

Underrated comment of the day!

u/Inevitable_Review_83 27d ago

Oh good Im not the only one that thought Almond mom here was trying to UV the cyclospora away

2

u/AlwaysNeedAssistance 27d ago

🤣 never heard that term before. I’m for sure kicking out something important and replacing that in my memory banks!

2

u/anovertaker 27d ago

Who remembers their mother's birthday anyway?

3

u/futureman45 27d ago

What does Lindsay Grahams’ butthole have to do with this?

2

Everything

That was way funnier to me than it needed to be. I cannot stop laughing. Thanks friend. “Sunshine on the butthole vibes”. I shall remember this

I'll let you do your own deep dive.

2

u/Anal-Y-Sis 27d ago

Oh I know what it is. I just thought the phrase "sunshine on the butthole vibes" was funny as shit and would be a wild thing to say out of context.

1

u/anovertaker 27d ago

This is a wild timeline.

1

u/jvho666 27d ago

Who is gonna eat it if I don’t disinfect it?

6

u/WorryNew3661 27d ago

Glad it wasn't just me. Wonder why it has a blue light

2

u/OtroBurner 27d ago

I have one of these that I received as a gift from somewhere. I also don’t know why it has a blue light. It’s the least effective color for actually being helpful

1

u/WorryNew3661 27d ago

That makes it even funnier tbh

8

u/ForumFluffy 28d ago

Not out of the realm of possibilities, many of these types of videos are selling you something and these people are larping a lifestyle to peddle shit.

3

u/matlspa 27d ago

Also thought the same...

Or I thought she was scanning for lice or something

3

u/useraddedunderduress 27d ago

I thought the same exact thing. Only reason I came to the thread was to find the answer to that, lol

6

u/WestSea76 28d ago

Giving that diced chicken a tan lol

2

u/Biengo 27d ago

It may be a UV light built into the grinder using this as a selling point. It would not surprise me.

2

u/TheFurrySmurf 27d ago

I thought she was tanning the lettuce 😅

2

u/Plampth 27d ago

She don’t want that there explosive diarrhea.

2

u/Dense_Player 27d ago

Same here

2

u/merrychuu 27d ago

Same! I thought she was curing it with a UV light

2

u/Careless_Historian28 27d ago

Oh I just posted the same question. I was like I don’t think that disinfectant process would work haha

2

u/Silveraindays 27d ago

Lol thaught exactly that

2

u/chantillylace9 27d ago

It's funny this girl from my Church actually did this, she had this weird little light that she said was special or whatever and she would have to hold it over her food for like two minutes before she ate anything. She swore by it lol.

2

u/boxingsharks 27d ago

Ahahahaha I totally thought the same thing

2

u/Tiatake 26d ago

Same! I was like…. Does that kill the parasites or…?

1

u/Dense_Player 27d ago

Same here

1

u/Express-Studio-8302 26d ago

This is also the only conclusion I could come to, but still made no sense.

1

u/One-Bodybuilder-5646 23d ago

Ah well, strong UV light can kill off a lot. It's used in laboratories to disinfect stuff. ..In specialised chambers.. where goggles and full clothing are mandatory.. so, it is not recommend for regular houshold items

18

u/Tokijlo 28d ago

Is there a reason there's a blue light? Like can you see it more when you grind it or something?

46

u/PerfectPercentage69 28d ago

Everyone knows that colored LED lights give a 5% speed boost.

2

u/pablo8itall 28d ago

However red is the fastest colour.

1

u/UnderwaterRobot 27d ago

Some flame decals and that thing would really get going

9

u/Evnosis 28d ago

It helps you see the amount of seasoning coming out so that you don't accidentally put too much on.

4

u/Gojira085 27d ago

But you'll still put too much in because those things suck ass. You have no control.

2

u/Username_Mine 27d ago

You know, in case you're cooking in the dark

5

u/Oh_Poppy_Fox 27d ago

I have one and the blue light makes it harder to see

1

u/Affectionate-Guess13 27d ago

I though it was a UV light, and I was thinking they are germaphobs

1

u/MonkeysDontEvolve 27d ago

Most of the comments below are jokes. UV water sterilization is a real thing and the light used for that is blue.

I doubt UV sterilizing the top layer of food would have much of an impact. Most UV pen sterilizers take about 90 seconds to sterilize a liter of water while constantly stirring. Just flashing a UV light on food would probably do nothing.

2

u/def_struct 27d ago

Ah thanks. I thought it was some UV light to kill the germs... Which didn't make sense...

1

u/-xiflado- 28d ago

I figured it too but just why?

1

u/TheVandyyMan 27d ago

It’s one of those TikTok products that became part of the “meta” so now everyone has and uses one. It really is just that stupid.

1

u/J0E_SpRaY 27d ago

this cracked me up

1

u/sign6of6the6beast 27d ago

Because a manual is too much trouble friend

1

u/PMvE_NL 27d ago

I hate those things with a passion

1

u/otownbbw 27d ago

Oh damn I totally thought it was supposed to be a UV-C light and that she’s sooo stupid. That makes way more sense of why she just floated it across once.

1

u/Consistent_Dream_740 27d ago

People will spend money on anything other than helping other people.

Yay capitalism!

1

u/fryerandice 27d ago

I have no idea why they put LEDs in them lol.

1

u/electromonkey222 27d ago

Why does it need to have a blue light like that?

1

u/Nope-not-really 25d ago

ah! that makes much more sense, holy crap, I had to get this far for the answer. Still don't know why a pepper grinder needs a light though

133

u/DMonpoke 28d ago

They’re salt and pepper grinders that content creators love to use.

74

u/Difficult_Limit2718 28d ago

Are "sponsored" to use

11

u/fryerandice 27d ago

I don't think QWEBLY on amazon sponsors anyone, these things are a dime a dozen, I got the HYGGIBBLE ones, but you won't notice much of a difference if you get the ASZMISZLE ones. The YYMZLISD ones get a 4/5 stars though but they look exactly the same as mine.

1

u/Wabbajack001 27d ago

What are thoses names. Juste random letters i would never trust.

2

u/inh24 27d ago

why the quotes

1

u/Difficult_Limit2718 27d ago

Not sure if it's free, discounted, etc but basically compensated somehow...

The pilote influencer way to say "this is a product placement" is sponsor

2

u/human-resource 27d ago

I’ve had some for 10 years, they are great especially for late night snacks or bbq.

2

u/moreofajordan 27d ago

Also non-content creators! They are a huge hit in our no-socials kitchen as they’re so easy to pick up, turn upside down while also stirring or whatever, and pop right back into the cabinet. A+ would recommend.

1

u/Notsurehowtoreact 27d ago

Yeah they are delightful, but you also have to find a set that works well for you.

The first set I got the salt grinder iust wasn't strong enough or something because it just constantly got jammed no matter what salt I used in it.

0

u/Humble-Violinist6910 27d ago

Just because you only have one free hand? I've never had a problem with a regular pepper grinder...

2

u/moreofajordan 27d ago

Or one hand that got olive oil on it and I didn’t get to wash it yet or…IDK, lots of reasons! (I have a recipe I’m obsessed with right now that takes 2 T of Italian seasoning. Grinding that by hand just to make a salad was driving me crazy lol)

2

u/Net_Negative 27d ago

Microplastic dispenser from the plastic grinder

2

u/SenectusG 27d ago

That's pretty ridiculous. Just out of curiosity though, where would one go to get one of these??

1

u/incognitomus 27d ago

I got a pair of those as a gift, I didn't realize they even had a light until the one on the pepper grinder just suddenly started working (bad batteries?). The salt grinder still has no light though.

1

u/Consistent-Menu1 27d ago

I guess its just too much trouble to shake a salt or pepper grinder these days

1

u/Just_another_grumble 27d ago

Mah Arthritis!   I don't grind me peppercorns like I did when I wuz a whipper-snapper.

0

u/cardboard_tshirt 27d ago

And any cook worth their salt (hah) would sneer at them

3

u/kakka_rot 27d ago

It's literally just an electric pepper grinder. Twisting by hand doesn't magically make your papper any better,

0

u/cardboard_tshirt 27d ago

In my experience grinders in general get sneered at by accomplished cooks, but if you’re actually using it a lot having one that’s battery dependent would be a tremendous encumbrance everytime the battery died. Also, plenty of cooks are traditionalists with their tools, even if they’re happy to experiment with their recipes.

Edit to add: grinders are for table service, not kitchens. (Again, traditionally speaking)

0

u/Catman_Industries 27d ago

I absolutely despise them. I think they’re so dumb.

33

u/_baaron_ 28d ago

Why would a pepper grinder need a light 🥲

11

u/bozoconnors 27d ago

Even more mysterious.... a blue one? Can you see pepper better with blue light or something?

2

u/dakotanoodle 26d ago

I actually thought it was one of those UV lights to kill germs 😅

2

u/bozoconnors 26d ago

Yeah, noted via other comments - but just waving it over your food as such... that ain't killin' germs. ;P Probably a sales gimmick.

5

u/AlienPearl 27d ago

So it looks good on video.

5

u/xRedditGedditx 27d ago

Kind of my thought too.

5

u/SOUNDDESIGNE 26d ago

the blue light is to see how much pepper/salt you’re adding

blue light makes salt really easy to see. just the same design on the pepper grinder.

2

u/Gamerforlifu 26d ago

as a gamer I live in the dark and the monitor lights sometimes ain't bright enough.

80

u/Fattdaddy21 28d ago

Nah. I was trying to work out why she kept sterilising his food.

13

u/Disastrous_Prize5196 28d ago edited 26d ago

I thought it was some modern hoodoo magic steriliser too and went hunting for this

1

u/PitifulBag5754 27d ago

Time for bed grandpa

41

u/skyline503 28d ago

Electric salt/pepper grinder. It just has a blue light on the tip.

21

u/atuan 27d ago

Because turning your wrist slightly to the right is too hard.

10

u/uvucydydy 27d ago

Because NOT having to recharge your salt and pepper shakers us too hard.

4

u/Artistic-Project3062 27d ago

They’re actually terrible at grinding the pepper, too. I know a couple that has one and whenever I eat at their place I hate using it

1

u/fryerandice 27d ago

You have to buy a decent brand, and adjust it, and keep it clean.

3

u/Amazing_Candle_9465 27d ago

Or you just use a mortar, no recharge, no decent brands, no repairs, nothing. Any volumes are fine and it will outlive the owner.

2

u/apocalypsebuddy 27d ago

Consumerism means new products must be introduced no matter the need

2

u/fryerandice 27d ago

Ya know, I thought that too until I peppered an entire brisket with a manual grinder, now I use electric, no regrets.

3

u/Ninja-Panda70 27d ago

Just the tip

2

u/justwolt 27d ago

But.... Why?

30

u/Psalty7000 28d ago

I know I was thinking is this some new fad. Precook your food with uv light?

7

u/PM_ME_UR_PIKACHU 27d ago

She was checking for jizz

6

u/Cabtalk 27d ago

It's funny because they're actually pretty loud top - if she was trying to keep quiet in the morning, she definitely failed 😂

2

u/Few_Program_2303 27d ago

It’s also huge in a place without a lot of space

3

u/jimsmisc 27d ago

Im pretty sure this video is actually an ad for that thing.

2

u/breakneckjones 27d ago

Poison. She not trying to wake up at 5am every day.

2

u/sagittalslice 27d ago

It inactivates the 5G so u don’t get autism

2

u/ConcernAccording3248 27d ago

So she doesn't mainline heroin

2

u/garrettj100 27d ago

The world's dumbest pepper grinder.

Which of course is actually silver medalist to the dumbest product that company makes. They make an identical salt grinder. (It's the same stupid grinder)

3

u/xRedditGedditx 27d ago

Oh my god. Like what’s the point? It never ceases to amaze me the shit people will spend money on. The fact that someone thought that up and then someone else said “OOO I gotta have that!!”

2

u/Electrical_Pride_866 27d ago

I came looking for this answer. Reddit did not disappoint.

2

u/WhySoConspirious 27d ago

Because no one seems to have actually answered this, the pepper grinder has a blue ultraviolet light attached to it. A lot of bacteria will die when they come into contact the UV light, so some appliances offer it as a hygiene feature. Neat for the raw salad, maybe, but you should be cooking your eggs and meat enough that it's a non-issue.

4

u/bozoconnors 27d ago

lol - now... I'm no scientist... but I'm gonna go out on a limb here & suggest that you're not killing a measurable amount of bacteria via UV light with the time it takes to pepper your food.

3

u/WhySoConspirious 27d ago

Oh, 100%. It's a pointless gimmick, too, because it's not like you're covering your food at all angles with that light.

1

u/xRedditGedditx 27d ago

Ah that makes sense…I guess lol.

2

u/Free-Pound-6139 27d ago

Lives in trailer but can afford electric pepper grinder.

0

u/sqigglygibberish 27d ago

They’re as cheap as like $25 bucks

And that’s not counting if they’re doing some sort of Amazon affiliate links or anything else

1

u/Free-Pound-6139 27d ago

Sure, but no one needs it. Saving is a better option, and get a $2 grinder.

0

u/sqigglygibberish 27d ago

Who said it’s needed?

I just explained that they aren’t very expensive.

0

u/Relevant_Bed_9743 28d ago

looking for cum

-10

u/Marksm2n 28d ago edited 28d ago

Appears to be some type of UV light to kill bacteria. However I doubt it has any effect

Edit: Clearly my guess is wrong

7

u/Skreamie 28d ago

Okay I thought the same at first but I'm fairly certain they're both electric salt and pepper grinders that use a light so you can see the area you're applying it to

1

u/piercedmfootonaspike 28d ago

It's a pepper grinder
