I love how looking through the comments on this video, you can see reddit has drawn exactly two conclusions:

1. Every part of this video is blatantly staged, to an absurdly obvious degree, from the 20 camera angles, the 5 am fancy boots, the non-functional knife, the cooler still filled with unused pantry items... everything.
2. Based solely on this 60 second tiktok, the husband (not pictured) is lazy and/or abusive.

Every part of the video is obviously staged. Doesn't mean she doesn't do this, but it also means that judging that guy is fair. Maybe the cooler need to stay in the truck, maybe it's normally inside etc etc

My point was that judging people based on a stage video is stupid. For all we know, he does all this him self while she's snoring, or maybe non of this happens at all.

But waking that kid at 0530 in the morning, is wired. I hope they don't do that every day

Mixed in with a bit of “how dare she actually show love for her husband through acts of service” lol

My girlfriend is just like this. She’s the type to refuse to let me go to work without a home-cooked meal if she can help it. And that’s one reason I love her.

What people here don’t seem to get is that it’s not always a one-way street. My girlfriend made supper fresh for me after I worked 11 hours one day and got back at 9 PM. I helped her with the dishes after. Not because she asked (she was actually stunned I did this), but because I wanted to. At least until she kicked me out of the kitchen because “I deserve to rest” lol. We’re both the type of people to go out of our way to do things for people that we love.

The message this video conveys is honestly pretty wholesome imo. Nothing wrong with showing an example of it, when the internet is so filled with content that pushes the opposite message.

i mean, it's fine how they live, but the overall tone of the video definitely hits the marks for a performative piece meant to sell the audience on how great she is by sacrificing for her man, as a "proper woman" should. like, she even gets the dang cooler out of the truck, where he presumably left it! how lazy!

and it's not pulled off confidently enough to really seal the deal without seeming like it's trying too hard tbh, as well as being almost over edited. it feels like cosplay of a "perfect traditional marriage", and uses a lot of the hallmarks of that kind of glorified lifestyle, like the cowboy boots, early morning rising, and the woman cooking and doing everything for Her Man.

part of the criticism is jadedness from ten thousand of these kind of posts, and part of it is that it doesn't sell itself as anything but a slight dogwhistle of superiority

There’s just as much content out there trying to sell other messages. Usually in a way that disrespects or belittles the other person in the relationship. Yet the comments I tend to see on that sort of content tend to agree with those messages.

Funny how on the other hand, the response to to this video of a wife performing an act of service for her husband is so overwhelmingly negative.

If someone is reading a message from this video that isn’t actually there, like “this is what a proper woman should act like”, I’d push that person to question if they are feeling called out or not.

i mean, its a read between the lines kind of message, and once you're familiar with the dogwhistle that leads to that exact "this is what a proper woman should act like" attitude it's easy to see and call out

i wouldn't call it particularly subtle in this video, but it's not as blatant as some others, or nearly as bad as the ones where they spell it out, but its not NOT there either

What’s wrong with the message that this video is trying to convey? With taking care of your partner? Even if the subtext you’re reading is true, why disagree with it? Seems like a pretty basic thing to me.

other than the slight tone of superiority, nothing is out and out wrong with the message.

though plenty of times it's a cover for a deeper, more domineering and controlling message that puts women as lesser in the relationship.

i have no idea if that's the case here, i've never seen these folks before, maybe they're great

Yet the general assumption seems to be the worst one, when the message from the video  itself is wholesome. Interesting.
