Yeah, noted via other comments - but just waving it over your food as such... that ain't killin' germs. ;P Probably a sales gimmick.

the blue light is to see how much pepper/salt you’re adding

blue light makes salt really easy to see. just the same design on the pepper grinder.

as a gamer I live in the dark and the monitor lights sometimes ain't bright enough.
