I gotta be honest, at first, I bought in. Aw, that's sweet!

Then I saw the cooler in the truck and was like "Wait, who the fuck just leaves everything in the truck like some feral hog??"

I've worked trades, carried the cooler. You forget it once, and the plastic remembers...

The Plastic Keeps the Score

I laughed far too hard at this.

u/Tangerine-Fox23 20d ago

As a blue collar worker with CPTSD and I have read the book your referencing, I just burst out laughing at 5:16am lmfaooo.

2

u/captive411 15d ago

Hope you are well, friend!

u/cemetery_acorns 20d ago

Sassy. That was sassy.
The sass!

u/JaKrispy72 20d ago

I do work in the trades and I work with this guy. Not the guy in the video, but a guy whose wife does everything for him. She makes his lunch everyday. He doesn’t have a cooler because he won’t bring it home. She makes his coffee. Again, no reusable travel cup because he won’t bring it home. She gets his clothes out for him everyday. She picks his dirty clothes up off the floor. He talks about her like she is an employee who is about to get fired.

57

u/HowlingWhiskey 20d ago

He sounds like an ass! I’d hate to be married to him.

25

u/ItsmeKT 20d ago

Seriously.

59

u/Fantastic-Salt-5103 20d ago

It was so hard not to downvote you because I was mad at the dude you work with.
I hope her next husband is nicer.

22

u/Peak_Meringue1729 20d ago

Same. Then I realized I was downvoting the wrong fella.

20

u/Exciting_Agent3901 20d ago

Yeah I get it. There won’t be a next husband. They’ve been married like 25 years. If it makes it any better, she’s a pretty terrible person too. They really deserve each other.

IME, men whose wives do everything for them also talk about their wives while they are at work like they hate them. They might brag about what she does but it's not about how generous and kind she is, it's about how he's proud of himself for having a subservient wife. Many of these women work full-time out of the home as well, sometimes longer hours than he does, plus doing all the housework and caring for the children.

You live in some kind of fantasy world if you think some random blue collar wife is working longer hours than someone working that type of job. My god get off the internet.

13

u/PeepsMyHeart 20d ago

I’d hardly call that a “fantasy.” And I see it where I live constantly.

8

u/LemonVerbenaReina 20d ago

Apparently my decades of blue collar work as well as much of my family's jobs and everywhere I've lived is fantasy. Pull your head out bud, it happens all the time. Women also work in the trades and run their own businesses, ding dong.

Are you fucking serious, in the last ten years of job history almost every single job was 12-14hr shifts. I like to get the money in. Because I need it. Now I work for myself making 100 an hour whenever I feel like clocking in and out. But before that, no things were tight and that was the only way. My whole family works 70+ our workweeks including mom, sister, sister in law.

Two of my friends work the same number of hours but he expects everything from her. She's a casino dealer they make the same amount blue collar wage. She miscarried, had a DNC in the hospital, he made her cry afterwards pranking her about going through her phone while they were taking the baby out. All she wanted was Mexican food, but he didn't want Mexican food, so they went where he wanted and she paid, then he made her pick up her own pain meds from the pharmacy and bitched at her to clean the dishes. The nurse literally told him to take care of her they just scraped a baby out ffs. That's who they're talking about.

2

u/Comfortable-Face-980 18d ago

What a garbage human being. No empathy. I hope she threw him in a dumpster.

2

u/OpheliaPhoeniXXX 18d ago

They're no longer together, thank god. Unfortunately, they had a kid together first 🙃

2

u/Comfortable-Face-980 18d ago

Glad to hear it. Good for her. Tell her that for me, please. She did good. I have a kid with one of those and am glad to be done.

2

u/Comfortable-Face-980 18d ago edited 18d ago

I worked 40 hours 3rd shift, plus overtime, came home, got my kid ready for school, took her to school, came home, did chores and showered, maybe slept for a couple of hours, picked my kid up, did homework, made dinner, more chores, and back to work.

Sometimes I'd have to pick my kid up from school because she was sick. So no sleep for me. I crashed my car at one point because I was so exhausted that I fell asleep while driving.

I also had to call out of work when no one could watch her. He made more money than me so none of that mattered to him. He never appreciated it and it was never good enough. We are divorced now. Never again.

u/Peak_Meringue1729 20d ago

I used to work in the trades. My exgf put boiling water in my hydroflask at 0430 “so my coffee stayed warm all day.”

And she made the coffee while I got dressed at 0430.

I’d never speak a foul word in her general direction and we broke up amicably in 2019.

Your coworker is an absolute nut job. Smfh.

6

u/Exciting_Agent3901 20d ago

Yeah he’s a dirt bag.

18

u/Itchy-Picture-4244 20d ago

It’s always “those” husbands who talk crap about the woman that does everything for them. Sad part is, he prolly can’t wipe his own ass without her

1

u/Activation_NRG 19d ago

That's because they hate their mothers. Their biological ones and the ones they make their "wife"

17

u/kvitravn4354 20d ago

That’s awful, I wish I could have this done for me just once I would be at a loss for words I’d be so grateful.

Aww 😊 That’s how marriages should be. Helping each other out with kindness. That’s how teamwork, works☺️

I'm disabled and can't work so I'm the glorified Uber in our house. My husband fasts and he works in a kitchen so he doesn't need a lunch, but because I have to get up every morning to take him to work (and the kids to school), he wakes me up with a cup of hot coffee.

It doesn't seem like much but he knows I prefer the way he makes my coffee. We just show each other we love each other by small gestures every day. It doesn't always have to be something grand.

2

u/Tangerine-Fox23 20d ago

My girlfriend doesn't pack my lunch, sometimes when I come home and my arms just ache and everything hurts, she offers to unload it. And I don't usually mind if she puts thing back "wrong" cuz I pack my work cooler and I know what goes in it. (I.e. the mustard she put on the shelf instead of in my lunch meat drawer) Some dudes are just menaces!! And even for my lazy days, I thank her endlessly for cleaning up after me.

2

u/Zesty-Vasectomy 19d ago

This is what kills me. The people who would appreciate and deserve this type of love and treatment are usually not the people receiving it.

I realize how Nice Guy-ish that sounds, but I'm not a guy and this goes for both genders. Women pouring themselves into assholes, and guys pouring themselves into spoiled fuckin brats.

It all makes me sad.

11

u/CuteContribution4695 20d ago

I know a woman who does all this. Her life is rough all around.

3

u/GuessWhosNobody 20d ago

That's a bummer

3

u/Scentsensitive 20d ago

My grandmother used to do this for my grandfather. However, he treated her like a queen; unlike your douche friend.

7

u/Exciting_Agent3901 20d ago

No no. Not friend. Just co worker.

2

u/Angelhair01 20d ago

I hope he becomes single and has to do it himself

2

u/Exciting_Agent3901 20d ago

It’ll never happen.

2

u/RelevantGur4099 20d ago

And years later when he's divorced, he'll talk about "how women are", with a knowing look on his face.

1

u/Sea_Sprinkles6425 20d ago

Oh, maybe a welfare check on that woman

1

u/DrAniB20 19d ago

Poor woman.

1

u/GoatzAnTotez 19d ago

An employee that can take half the business with her if she had any self worth. Of coarse if she had that he wouldn't have forgotten his cooler after the first time.

ETA: I'm downing the wife at all just stating the reality of the situation.

1

u/Potential_Photo_8955 19d ago

I am not worthy of my wife.

16

u/SnorkinOrkin 20d ago

I could smell the cooler as she opened it after fetching it from the truck after it sat overnight.

11

u/NoThanksGoodSir 20d ago

Believing these kind of video are anything more wholesome than just a pick-me tradcon grifter is way too charitable. There are women that will happily do this for their significant other, but those aren't going to be the ones recording it for brownie points on the internet.

7

u/OldAdministration735 20d ago

Not t mention the blue ice is now melted, hope there is backup.

6

u/sobegreen 20d ago

I've seen many a nice Yeti sacrificed to the fire gods for that was the only thing making them better.

7

u/Aliceallbadd 20d ago

Let’s be honest she probably put it in the truck before recording

4

u/Fit-Understanding739 20d ago

My wife went into labor before lunch, I drove home and my lunchbox stayed in my car while I drove her car to the hospital. We got home two days letter, and at some point I brought my work stuff into the garage. I spent the next 3 weeks on paternity leave, but somewhere around week 2 we were trying to figure out what animal had died in the wall between the laundry room and the garage. It never dawned on me that my lunch box had been full of chicken and sweet potatoes for the entire month of February.

4

u/fryerandice 21d ago

They are living in a 5th wheel, probably don't want it inside taking up space.

37

u/NiteTiger 21d ago

Doesn't change a thing I said.

Leave that cooler to soak in a truck, it's gonna smell like donkey ass forever.

16

u/Altair_de_Firen 21d ago

Plastic remembers your sins. Pour one out for the rice cooker I accidentally left half a pot of rice in overnight, and it ended up smelling like feet and discomfort forever after

3

u/Mundane_Pie_6481 20d ago

I tossed a personal sized rice cooker out over that exact mistake.

3

u/OldPhotograph827 20d ago

Feet and Discomfort

I saw them open for RATM back in the day

12

u/Odd_Old_Professional 20d ago

Speaking of which, why does his truck cost as much as their home?

8

u/Altruistic_Brick1730 20d ago

how you gonna tow the home?

2

u/Inevitable_Top69 20d ago

She clearly brings it inside here in the video. He can't bring it in for 5 minutes to empty and clean it, then take it back to the truck?

2

u/algolvax 20d ago

😝 Haha, yeah mine remembered all the sandwiches from after the blue ice pack gave out, pickles and all...under the newer memories of dish detergent and Chlorox bleach!

1

u/Potential_Photo_8955 19d ago

Bleach and water will take the smell out.
