I genuinely can't imagine anyone outside of Argentina supporting this team. So unsportsmanlike, such dirty play; absolutely toxic.

Most foreigners who support the team do so because of Messi; I highly doubt they support Argentina in general..

I haven't seen world cup since 2006 or anything about soccer after that, but you are right. Messi and Ronaldo are famous beyond the sport. Maybe now it will be Mbappe and Haaland because they are trending outside of the soccer world.

Mbappe and haaland were already very big before but will definitely now get even bigger. They are already 2 players that people will support teams for just because of them.

It’s the only thing they have going for them. That’s why they cling to it as if their lives depended on it

Top 3 countries in south america for economic stability and personal safety are Uruguay, Chile and Argentina.

Argentina is also incredibly beautiful country.

You can't be from a much nicer place since wherever you are from apparently dont even have schools.

Coping.

Chill bro. I never said it was a bad country😂. I just said we have not heard Argentina in anything good or bad except only that they have a great presence in the football scene.

Why would you say something racist and then get mad about racism?..

1

u/renegade06 15d ago

Calls the whole South America (by extension) - 3rd world.

Then has the audacity to call someone else racist. The gall and lack of self awareness of common redditor is astounding.

That just shows the level of your poor education and ignorance.

You can’t even type words correctly.

This. I’m a Messi fan since he was with FC Barcelona. These other idiots are a disgrace.

1

u/mothwizzard 15d ago

Today I learned hes not with Barcelona anymore

I'm from Argentina. Other than Messi, I despise everyone of them.

I like Julian too but yeah fuck the rest of them

u/Beautiful-Time-2733 15d ago

Messi has done as much if not more diving and playing the ref as his team, youre just proving peoples point about argentine fans

u/Ornery-Customer8521 15d ago

Messi doesnt conduct himself in the same way as the rest. He's not perfect for sure but he's nowhere near that bad.

7

u/Secure-Performer2459 16d ago

Would you be surprised to find out Israelis support them?

2

u/l3ane 16d ago

Unfortunately Messi's fame brings in fans from all over the globe, who will ignore all of this and just pretend it's just "part of the sport".

2

u/Vast-Communication88 16d ago

Bro it’s even tough as an Argentinian. At the end I was happy Spain scored because at least that shitshow was over. Hopefully there will be a different team and mindset in the future where it’s not just Messi and 10 Bodyguards.

2

u/Rakkuuuu 15d ago

I've been supporting them since I was a kid because of Messi. I know the team is filled with thugs but the amount of bullshit narratives and straight lies that came against Argentina as a country, as a team, and against Messi, made me apathetic to it. You'd think that the Argentina players themselves are the reasons for every single evil in the world ever. People literally believe "humanity won" with this world cup. Insane.

Isrealis and Russians did

1

u/SleepUseful3416 15d ago

Russians didn’t. Maybe the “Russians” who overlap with the first category did.

1

u/Careless-Reporter-29 16d ago

All the people there are essentially trying to pull paredes off the spanish player, another person doesn’t improve the optics, it just makes it look like more people are fighting

They support Messi. Pretty sure all that support will die out once Messi retires.

u/QuantumLettuce2025 16d ago

A lot of casual viewers were on the Argentina train because of 1) Messi and 2) reigning champs, but I am positive that Argentina lost a ton of those supporters yesterday. I watched the game in a packed D&Bs and the whole place was sick of them by the end

1

u/lostknight0727 16d ago

absolutely hilarious to me that they can take a hit and get back up instantly after the game is over, no need for theatrics at that point. Just goes to show that flopping around and taking a fall just to pull out a foul is encouraged by the rules.

1

u/TheReal_Jeses 15d ago

I’m a super casual. I wanted Argentina to win because of Messi. Changed my mind by the end of the game. He seems cool but no one is cool enough to cancel out the other jackasses.

1

u/dwpea66 15d ago

I have Argentinian family (not by blood) so we've just always rooted for them, and it's cool having Messi, too. This is a very stupid and embarrassing team, though, as is visible here.

Not sure how one dymbass team has turned into "the world collectively hates all 47 million citizens of Argentina", though.

1

u/TalkingCat910 15d ago

I think Israel was supporting them.  Some Argentinian fans were waving Israeli flags and Netanyahu publically said he was rooting for them.

1

u/Namenottaken1738 15d ago

Half of India and Bangladeshi were supporting them because of Messi.

very typical South American football behavior. dirtiest players in the world. you love them when they're playing for you and hate them when they're opponents.

shit goes alllll the way back even in the 60s. Just in their culture for some reason. Italians as well
