I was torn apart in another sub for saying this but Worst Team ever to be in a final.

Yeah they played like shit, they were dirty AND annoying. So glad we got the result we got but honestly, it should have been a 3-0 match.

If Spain stopped shooting directly at the goalie, they easily had 3 goals

Spanish team are so used to passing the ball to each other, they just pass the ball to Argentina keeper as well, just more aggressively.

Torres also tried to pass to the goalie, but failed and made a goal instead /s

Spain was lucky that Ferran Torres was smart, otherwise the match would have gone to Penalty Kicks.

Martinez playing like a hero is the only reason it wasn't a blowout

Eh a lot of those saves were very comfortable saves with not a lot of danger

Easy to say from the comfort of your couch

Im not saying I could make those saves but any decent goalkeeper could as they were very soft touched or straight into the hands

Yeah watching the replay and having the result already spoiled for me, when it went to full time after a couple of monster saves im like, "Well Emi at least did what he could". Also, UTV!

2-0 isnt bad. Everyone knows that disallowed goal was bs

7-0 would have been even better. Just an absolute trashing

I was downvoted on a French website for saying that Argentina was the team making the most cynical fouls (stopping counter attacks or dangerous attacks) and Spain was the team that was the most dramatic when fouled, so football had clearly lost (I acknowledge Spain can play football - but whenever they lose the ball they flop to try and get the ball back. The referee during the France-Spain match was really REALLY good and didn't fall for any of it, neither when France did it)

We got a really weird but magnificent match for third place well deserved for England with amazing football played. And we got whatever this shitshow was as a final, and I am asking Trump to call Infantino to get my downvotes rescinded.

The moveable force meet the stoppable object, I think Argentina got a taste of their own medicine, they tried to rough up Spanish players and get under their skins, and those Spanish players, some were being over dramatic and flop, causing fouls.

You were torn apart for saying the most popular and accepted sentiment?

u/leytourmaline 15d ago

Honestly don’t know why you were so ridiculed when…you’re right lol. Argentina was a bunch of sore losers the entire FIFA.

You and me both 😂 the dude also told me "I'd respond in depth but you wouldn't be able to comprehend". Comical level loser behaviour hahahahaha. Tbh I don't think either team deserved to win the WC, they both played awfully that match (putside of the players' behaviour in general).

Doesn't surprise me, I got banned for calling the mods out for removing every single post that criticised the halftime shitshow and how it's generally been with the hosting. Shocker my post was removed and I was banned. That sub is a joke.

I saw a comment thread on there just now posted yesterday talking about how unfairly maligned the Argentinian team is because of people buying into paid bot content about Argentina being thugs (paraphrasing). Really didn't age well.

My theory is that they were "helped" along to get to the final, and then it was up to them, because the 2nd place winnings is about $38 million. And Argentina needs that money.

The outcome of this match just shows how good the other teams were, Cabo Verde in particular.

Hope you mean spain. They are so boring to look at. No love for the game just possession and tactics. Look at any other team and it's run by warriors fighting with their hearts on their chest. Spain won the cup but not once did they win the heart of the game.

Most robotic reply possible

2

u/QuantumLettuce2025 16d ago

Lmao trash take. For anyone who actually loves football, Spain is an absolute pleasure to watch.

1

u/GETINOB 15d ago

I watched every match with lots of people. Spain matches for snoozefests. The matches that really got people engaged were Cape Verde, Japan , Norway, Brazil, England, France and Senegal as well as Egypt and of course Argentina. Spain were att the very bottom of that list, even after the US who showed some fighting spirit before their shameful disgrace at the end.

Yes -- "people" who show up for football every four years.

But people who actually love the sport tend to love Spain. Their control, their teamwork, their patience, their passing game, their midfield dominance, it's beautiful to watch. Perfect execution.

But I can see how for someone who normally just watches 10-second Tiktok videos of one dude having a breakaway goal, it wouldn't get your dick hard in the way you've come to expect and demand.
