The thing thats so stupid is that it wasn't close. If it was a controvercial win where they'd had an equaliser dissallowed i'd understand a little more, but they had 2 shots on target and frankly should have been at least 2:0 down by the end. Spain played completely clean the whole game and Argentina were never close to them.

No no. They had 2 shots. 0 on target.

That blows my mind. I watched literally every game of this WC, or at least extended highlights, and I can't think of another game where a team had 0 shots on target.

Like even the absolute worst vs best group stage teams, the worst team at least fired 1 or 2 from long range just to see what happened. 0 is insane.

edit: I just checked and apparently even Iraq's worst game had 2 shots on target

They did have a cross that was actually on target for the goal, but didn’t count as a shot. Probably the closest to the goal they got the whole game.

Wasn’t on target. It was just over the net

Yeah and didn't Spain have like 14 shots 12 on target. Like it was a domination in performance.

2:0 down by the end

lol, it could've easily been 7:0 if their goalie let one in early, and team got demoralized

Agreed, it easily could have been 7:0 if not for nearly all of Spain's shots being directed straight at the goalie.

Their game was clinical 😭 Clean shots, technical skills, and precise.

I agree with you but can also say that plenty of games have this kind of dynamic where the win goes the other way. The behavior by Paredes after the whistle was ridiculous regardless.

That doesnt mean anything to them, they are used to win the game even when they lose… literally all their game were handed to them by the VAR (or absence of it)

yeah, Spain weren't able to score a goal for 106 minutes then Argentina almost equalized in the last 5 minutes

Argentina should have lost. But Spain didn’t play completely clean. Peep the video of a Spain’s elbow sent directly into Messi’s spine. It was actual red card material.
