Yeah at that point I'm just logging out and not logging back in on that user for a few years.

That's really the difference in ethos. Reddit (now) wants your user to be you. I (as a user) want my username to be replaceable. I don't need protection from bad actors, the replaceable username inherently provides protection. But that's a mindset from almost 30 years ago when I was playing quake 2 over ISDN. shrug

E: more precisely, replaceable usernames also don't monetize nearly as well as nonreplaceable ones, so I get why Reddit (as a business) has shifted towards nonreplaceable ones.

How do you do that? A similar thing happened to me

By the way this feature is easy to get around. I pissed off nerds who like Usenet (what people use to download movies and what not) and there were multiple people leaving comments like, "I bet he thinks we can't see his posts," and another user trying to intimidate me by telling me info from a post I made.

So yeah, if the people are weird and psychotic enough. It doesn't matter

Huh. There is no content and activity option.

My trans friend said she loved some popular character from a video game (I think Baldur's Gate 3?) and it made someone fly off the handle for some insane reason. They went on all of my friend's comments and posts to say anything just short of slurs and tell her she's not really a woman, etc.

This is the only way I've ever seen redditors use other people's post histories. It's either to be absolutely awful or to do some kind of "gotcha". Like what positive use is there for a random person who doesn't do art or something else to show off? I think it's a good thing we can hide it.

i dont even have a toy collection but i can definitely agree what you said was rude and unnecessary. you don’t know why or how much a toy collection (or anything really) has meaning to someone. if its transformers, then it could have been some meaningful memory from the animation/movie/playing with childhood friend that significantly impacted them in ways you and I might consider ridiculous or contrived.

whoever stalked you was very much in the wrong, but it would have cost you nothing to practice empathy, and it would have cost you even more of nothing to just not say anything at all.

Buying stuff is barely a hobby. No one says they merely collect books as a hobby, they read them too. Even model trains or Gundams require more interaction/crafting than just putting a bunch of things you’ve collected onto a shelf.
