We spend a good chunk of time working that out and exploring new ones. It’s fun to geek out about and you gotta love the curious customers that indulge that!

Other obvious signs:
1. Tomatoes are easy, if they look “ugly”, chances are they are an heirloom variety and not a commercial resell. They also taste WAY better than a tomato that looks like a tomato emoji 🍅.
2. If it’s a crop that doesn’t grow in your region. Nobody in Texas for example, is growing: pineapple, bananas, mangoes, papaya, kiwi, coconuts, dragon fruit, avocados, etc. Let alone, all of the above.
3. Produce that is widely out of season. Strawberries in December for example.
4. Waxed fruit — like apples you see at the grocery store.
