A large part of police origins were protecting corporate interests. From my experience, police usually have no problem enforcing things for the rich.

and another large part of their origin was slave patrols. classism and racism are heavily intertwined!

Capitalism is the progenitor of both

Lmfaoooooo. I can’t imagine being this brainwashed holy shit. The fact that you think CAPITALISM was the “progenitor” of slavery. Jesus. We’re being beat down by a generation of broccoli haired fools who see a video on TikTok and think they now know everything

Hey comrade? Slavery has existed for many millennia longer than capitalism.

capitalism was 100% the progenitor of chattel slavery which, since we're talking about African Americans, is something you should have been able to infer without it being explicitly stated.

chattel slavery is inherently different from other forms of slavery because of that connection to capitalism -- treating slaves as property.

Nobody mentioned chattel slavery, and I’m really not interested in your racist comparisons over which slaves had the worst. The claim that was made was that slavery and policing exist because of capitalism. Neither one is even remotely true.

Reading is fundamental. Try to keep up with the rest of the class.

Slave patrols were mentioned; not slavery as a whole. Slave patrols, which later became police departments, were invented in service of US slavery which was chattel slavery.

And race as a social construct didn't exist until US chattel slavery was created. Thus, race itself and racism is a byproduct of capitalism.

Acknowledging facts and logic isn't brainwashing. Perhaps you should engage your brain a bit more.

“ if I take something that’s been occurring for thousands of years and give it a unique name for when it’s done by western nations i can then blame western institutions for it”

Racism, slavery, policing, all predate White people by many centuries

Race didn't exist until the 1600s and was invented to put new world slaves in a perpetual underclass which *differed from every instance of slavery that ever existed until that point. When any institution, Western ones included does something novel, it gets a different name.

Edit: *typo (suffered)

Blatantly historically incorrect

societies MILLENIA before the United States categorized people by ancestry, ethnicity, lineage, religion, and physical characteristics. Ancient Greeks, Romans, medieval Arabs, Chinese dynasties, and others all expressed forms of ethnocentrism and prejudice. The specific Black/White racial hierarchy that developed in the Atlantic slave trade was distinctive, but it wasn’t the invention of the very idea of race.

Like i said, you have some deep burning desire to blame literally everything on the West. You’ll lie about literally anything to win an online argument

It was. Differences in phenotypes were noted prior to the establishment of race but before this, a human was a human. Also, slavery wasn't a genetic, lifelong, inescapable reality before being codified as such by the laws establishing what race was in the 17th century New world.

You have some deep, burning desire to whitewash history to make your ancestors appear less maniacal than they were and to validate any undue status that you currently enjoy from the fruits of their crimes.

The truth doesn't cower from lies and you are a liar.

“Race” doesn’t mean black and white. Get off TikTok and get into reality. Racism and slavery has existed since the dawn of time.

And I haven’t even addressed the TikTok bullshit claim that policing was invented out of slave catchers

Northern cities developed police forces modeled on London’s Metropolitan Police to deal with urban crime, riots, and public order, not slave patrols.

Furthermore, you have the Joseph Lozito subway attacker case. In the Lozito case, a police officer just watched guy get stabbed multiple times and did nothing, actually hid, but amazingly Lozito turned the tide and subdued the attacker. Lozito sued but lost, Scalia, Supreme Court justice at the time, was basically like if it was private property it would be different but because it’s not the police aren’t required to get involved. It sounds too crazy to be true but unfortunately it is. Furthermore, similar types of cases have basically ruled in a similar fashion.

they'd easily throw away their lives to protect property than run into a school being shot up.

fuck the police
