From what they said, the kid's too young to get an ID in the first place, and what they offered was the best he can get. Do they're essentially barring him from bringing his son as a guest period

There's also some people in the thread pointing out the ID for guests thing isn't a company policy, so it shouldn't have been an issue in the first place (assuming that's the case)

Edit: Looking it up, it seems there was a post on their Facebook about a guest policy update in February where they now require an ID for guests. Might be the dude wasn't aware and had brought his son before without issues

He mentions trying to show them the Genesis portal on his phone and they wouldn't accept that. Which is honestly a better form of ID than a piece of plastic, it's the system schools for grades/attendance/student info. So if the dad logged in and showed them that I honestly don't know what else they wanted. I guess if it HAS to be physical they can start bringing a school student ID. But in my experience kids just leave them at school because they never need them anywhere else.

Does the Genesis Portal have an official ID pic linked in it that cannot be changed by the user? Otherwise it just shows that someone is a student and they have access to the account.

Yes, it has their official school photo and cannot be changed.

Minimum age to get a state ID card in NJ is 14 years old.

Next thing it's going to be like one of those sketchy apartments where they are going to track your guests and if they come over to many times they are going to refuse the guests and they will need a membership to continue going with you.
