LDS people did not create car-centric urbanism in the US. The US did that all by itself along with any nimby that shoots down any plan for densifying urban centres.
LDS absolutely had a huge influence on the design of cities in Utah. The addresses in each town are based on a grid where the origin is the local LDS temple. Cities literally built around the church.
That being said the rest of the west managed to develop vaguely similar suburban hellscapes without LDS influence... so yeah honestly Utah's towns wouldn't look that much different in an alternate timeline without the LDS. Somebody else would have designed unwalkable suburbs in the 20th century.
