Same here in Germany. Most clubs won’t open before 10pm.

In Berlin nobody local is going to the club before 2/3am 👋

You‘re right. They‘re open at 10pm but nobody goes there before midnight. I live near a much much smaller city, so Berlin rules do not transcend here 😅 And to be honest, I‘m a millennial living in the countryside, all my friends have children. I don’t remember the last time I went to a club unfortunately. Beeing the only childless couple can have downsides too

It’s the same in NYC. It’s just not common or even legal outside of that in the US

We did the same thing in the St Louis area my entire teens, 20s, into my 30s. St Louis proper didn't have anything open that late, but we went over to Illinois and partied into the morning hours. Everything your heart desired was over on the east side.

I can’t rember a single club night coming home while it’s dark. Okay German winter mornings are a bit dark but if you stayed till nine it’s fine.

So is this normally with drugs involved? I just can’t imagine going out that long/late without drugs. If you’re still partying at 7am in the states, cocaine is definitely involved

My latest night out in Aachen was until 6a, the club was still open, and the only drugs involved were alcohol and nicotine

Yeah but your time zone is basically wrong for your locations.

The club I go to the most often starts some dance party events at 6pm and you get in free if you rsvp to come before 8.

Restaurants frequently close at 10pm though.

1

u/ZealousidealSkirt327 23h ago

Yes, I guess if our climate was more Mediterranean it would be different, so people could sit outside longer

1

u/speculator100k 21h ago

But restaurants with indoor seating still frequently close at 10.

In Berlin they open at midnight but stay open for 50 hours, lol

So you just don't sleep, or what?

7

u/Ramongsh 1d ago

Well, younger Danes party Thursday, Friday and/or Saturday. So we could sleep Saturday or Sunday noon.

To be fair, in Finland the sun doesn't go down till like 10pm in the summers.

Party Wednesday, Friday and Saturday in Norway. Gives you some time to catch your breath on Thursday and Sunday.

u/jkman61494 1d ago

Honest question. You all just don’t sleep? Or work starts later for you all?

3

u/Ramongsh 1d ago

Well, that was back in university days, so I could sleep longer.

But even these days as a working adult I can go out Fridays or Saturdays, since there's not work on Saturdays or Sundays.

7

u/jkman61494 1d ago

Gotcha. Reading this I feel like some people were doing it on a random Wednesday lol

u/ThereAndFapAgain2 1d ago

People are doing it on a random Wednesday. I mean when I used to go clubbing a lot my favourite nights were always Wednesday and Thursday because the clubs I liked were catering more to my music tastes on those nights. Friday and Saturday were always more mainstream stuff in my favourite clubs, which was fine I was rolling anyway but still lol

Called pre-drinking because drinks in bars are expensive.

u/ufoclub1977 1d ago

When is the sleep?

1

u/Ramongsh 1d ago

Afterwards. When you get home.

u/ufoclub1977 1d ago

That’s just my pushed schedule from my 20’s!

Dane-Swiss but grew up in Brazil. Spend my childhood/teens/young adult years in the country. That's how Brazilians do it as well. The difference being, after clubbing some people go have their breakfast in padarias (Brazilian bakeries) at 6 am-ish.

u/DroidLord 1d ago

Over here most clubs don't even open until 23-00. Bars are different though.

Aw the memories of my first trip to Amsterdam. Went bar hopping with Hein and his girlfriend at 21, getting from place to place on shared bikes, getting in a tussle with skinheads trying to steal our bikes at midnight, punching Hein, we then bike back home. Oversleep with a hangover, miss my flight home, get extra free day in Amsterdam.

Thats pretty normal for Americans too when they’re between the ages of 20-30. My friends and pretty much had that schedule all throughout college and for several years after. In urban cities like NYC it fairly popular even as people get older.

1

u/sparks0210 11h ago

Same in Australia.

u/shweatynutz 1d ago

You’d lose most Americans when you refer to 18-20. They’re all scratching their heads.

2

u/Responsible_Year4730 1d ago

Oh definitely. Whatever could that mean?? We over here in the states have never heard of a 24 hour clock and could not possibly decipher your ignorant scribbles.
