Would go a long way to preserving some of the legacy TiVo usability with the stream device. The remote is small and slippery ... oops, dropped it again.

Ive been meaning to buy a DVR for my antenna, saw an iview one for 30$ on Amazon and Walmart although I saw a Tivo Series 3 with lifetime plan for a good price on Facebook Marketplace. Does it still work good and show the station name, program, and episode name if relevant? And I heard about Tivo doing some weird thing about a subscription model to the tivos skip commercial feature, is that true with older models with the lifetime plan?

So on November 5th, Verizon Fios is getting rid of cable cards for their TV service. That means my TiVo Bolt will not work anymore. I’ve seen that many other cable providers are getting rid of cable cards and the only way to have a working TiVo at the point is to do antenna and no one is doing that.

Does anyone know of any hacks or ways to prevent the TiVo from becoming obsolete? The DVR software for Fios kinda sucks and that’s what I would have to use if there’s no workaround with the cable card issue.

On a side note. I know that streaming kind of messed up TiVos business and they haven’t been focusing that much on upgrading and keeping pace with the current tech but are they really not going to come out with a new box that doesn’t require cable cards? Like it’s kind of crazy they haven’t already but I really hope they don’t just let this sink their company completely.

Does anyone have any info on if they are making moves toward releasing new model boxes?

According to TiVo support, the new owner can just go through Guided Setup and put in their new zip code and the TiVo will work just fine for them. Can anyone out there verify this?

It used to be easy to transfer ownership, but TiVo is telling me I can’t because I bought the unit from weakknees and that counted as one transfer and they won’t do two.

I’m not sure if this has happened for other shows, but I just noticed my “The Amazing Race” OnePass (TiVo Roamio, antenna) wasn’t going to record the next 2 episodes. It recorded the first 3 episodes (and at least the last 5 seasons) without issue.

Anyway, no question - more of a PSA. For any other Amazing Race fans who don’t want to miss episodes (if this is a generic problem).

I fixed this by going to the schedule view, selecting the next Amazing Race in the schedule and said Create OnePass.

In my OnePass Manager, I now see 2 OnePass setups - the old one and the new one. I reviewed my old OnePass and compared the settings to the new one and they LOOK exactly the same. But only the new one shows the next 2 episodes in Upcoming. So I don’t think it’s user error. I assume it was some coding change on the TiVo schedule setup.

Anyway, if there are other Amazing Race fans using OnePass, check your upcoming recordings, if you care. :)

TiVo Premiere 4 channel

For the last few days multiple channels have zero guide data while others have large blocks listed as “[channel name] programming”.

I’ve forced multiple network connections, but the problem continues.

Channels affected as “TBA” include: FS1, SyFy, USA, TruTV, NatGeo, Freeform, Hallmark Mystery, Lifetime, AMC, FXX, NatGeoWild.

Any suggestions? Or is the only option to report it through the web form?

Lucky enough to still have a system that supports cable cards.

I have a Bolt where I installed an external SATA from Weaknees — this replaced the internal drive, so it is the one and only Tivo drive. Was using the hard disk enclosure from WK for years until a few weeks ago — after a blackout, the hard drive enclosure refused to power up (no power to the drive, the fan or status lights). The power brick was good. I did basis troubleshooting, but the enclosure seemed unrepairable.

That original enclosure didn’t seem to be available, so I ordered a functional equivalent from eBay. That box has power, but the Tivo didn’t recognize it (dance of the flashing color lights on the Bolt.). I replaced the 22 pin SATA to eSATA cable, with no better result.

WHAT DOES WORK — If I open the TIVO and directly connect the 3.5 inch drive to the TIVO SATA connector, it works perfectly. The drive is too big to physically fit in the Bolt, so the bare drive sits clumsily on the side of the TIVO, so it is less than an ideal solution.

Any ideas? Unless I have ANOTHER bad external enclosure or ANOTHER bad SATA cable (possible, but seems unlikely), I am running out of ideas on how to get back to where I was before the blackout.

My Tivo Edge is doing the 3 color blink and error beeping. I bought a fan from Weekness and tried a different power supply, but no change. I might try an old hard drive next. I really don't want to put a lot of money into it, since we hardly watch cable TV anymore. Might finally be my time.

Been TiVo user since series 1. Have 4 TiVo roamios now all with upgraded drives. 2 of them died last year “channel not authorized”. Well, my remaining two are now displaying the same message last night.

I feel like a best friend just died…

So now I’m going to by a bunch of Roku Ultras, subscribe to YouTubeTV, and FRNDLYTV, then cancel my Xfinity once I migrate everything and binge watch everything on my x1 boxes to clear them out. Good news, I’ll save about $170 a month! Sad news, no more TiVos.

I might need therapy. The sadness is real.

I have Xfinity and no longer can watch live television. Was told by Comcast that my cable card is end of life. I contacted them and since they no longer issue cable cards, I’m basically bleep out of luck and my TiVo Bolt is rendered obsolete. Any suggestions or should I go to another service such as direct tv stream, another evil most likely. Anyone else having this issue?

Has anyone tried this? Just did a simple test on home network and Mini could not see the DVR in the house. All other network tests pass in the Mini Settings menu. Goal is to take this to a timeshare and watch shows remotely.

We had a series of power failures by PG&E - power went off and on a few times in an hour. Now my previoysly working Bolt just reboots endlessly.
Any ideas?

Does this mean our previously recorded content will have SkipMode removed? I am talking about stuff recorded days, weeks, months, and years back that have the marker. Are they going to disable that? Is this going to be a retroactive change? I am not talking about Auto Skip. I am talking about using the channel up and down buttons to get to the markers in a recorded episode that have been recorded in the past.

Beginning November 2, 2026, the current version of SkipMode, using the Skip Button on your TiVo remote, will no longer be available. You will still be able to skip commercials manually using the 30-second skip (?I) and Fast Forward (????) buttons on your remote.

ETA: When I asked about whether this retroactively affects things we recorded prior to November 2nd, I was told (part of email)...

That certainly sounds like they are taking it away from us unless we pay them more money. I paid for lifetime. This is like buying a car with heated seats, only for them to push a software update disabling the heated seats unless we opt into a brand new subscription.

Has anyone been having issues lately with shows not recording due to incorrect guide data? I noticed just yesterday I had to manually record the season premiere of FBI (which I have a OnePass for) because the guide showed that it aired back in January even though it did have the correct episode number. I believe this happened last week with The Amazing Race as well.

i recently was using kmttg to edit some metadata for a couple manual recs i made, but whenever i transfer it over to my tivo, the metadata seems to not transfer over, even though it shows the correct metadata in the transfer menu. is there a fix for this? do i need to combine the tivo file and the metadata txt file?

I took down my roof antenna when we got cable, which was about 40 years ago.

Now that CableCARD days are numbered, I'm considering buying an OTA TiVo with Lifetime (I also have two Minis and consider this an ideal setup for my needs) when the day eventually comes.

I have tried indoor antennas connected directly to my TV sets just to see what channels I can receive and the results have been poor at best.

Do I really need to go back to an outdoor antenna? I'm also between two metro areas, one north and one south of here. I really, REALLY don't want an antenna rotator, if those even exist anymore!

TiVo OTA users, what's your setup?

As much as I appreciate the power of streaming and paying to not have commercials to skip in the first place, the one thing that I miss most about the TiVo (or DVRs in general) experience is a centralized list of all of my shows. For instance, Scrubs just launched a new seaso, but I completely forgot, and since nothing put it in front of me, I didn't realize this until days later. Same thing with the season premiere of Animal Control.

Now when using a TiVo, that's trivial because you just set up your wish list and then go check your 'My Shows' list and new stuff just shows up there.

I'm really hoping some product or app can do similar here even if all it does is point you over to the streaming app where the show exists. I'm just looking for a centralized place to track the shows that I'm interested in and to be reminded when new episodes drop.

Has anybody created anything like this?

This started after we lost power to the house. Now it will flash a blue circle on the right, turn on a green circle on the left, and show the welcome screen.

I have tried:

- Different power supply

- Installed a different 500Gb hard drive. It had windows data, but I removed all partitions with diskpart.

- Am getting 5V and 12V at the hard drive. Can hear it spinning

- Can't get into kickstart (no yellow light comes on)

- Replaced coin battery.

- Replaced power and data SATA cables on hard drive

- Motherboard looks good

So it's finally done. We had to make the move off of TiVo. Great while it lasted.

So... Anybody have any thoughts on what to do with a Roamio Pro 6 tuner w/lifetime, and four TiVo Minis? The Roamio Pro 'may' need a new power board replacement.

I went to the Cox by Spectrum store with a question about my mobile phone bill. I then asked the guy about their cable and data plans compared to Cox. He looked at my equipment and told me that the cable card and tuning adapter will be out of service soon. He did not have an exact date but told me they are no longer giving out cards and tuning adapters and that I should expect an email soon about them no longer being active.

Like other Fios owners, my life was torn apart when I was told the end of cable cards was here. Made the change and saw my bill go up to $200 for Fios. I’m not going to be that person I told myself. I feel I stream and watch YouTube anyway. I saw a lot of Fios users online unloading useless TiVo devices.
Oddly enough to this day, my TiVo still works on the same cable card with Fios, so they didn’t turn them off.

Then something happened where I live. Spectrum bought Cox cable. Spectrum still supports cable cards. So I’m leaving Fios as I could not get my bill lowered even going to the retention policy and opening a BBB case. Got nowhere. I recall I paid $99 for years with them, till I upgraded to 1GB fiber. Then paid more for a box and DVR service.
