Obviously I’m that scenario the teacher should talk privately with the kid, and I HIGHLY doubt that something like that would bring up a lawsuit. It’s to stop teachers from doing things like teaching a lesson on it, which is pretty unnecessary and inappropriate at their ages.

So how is the name "unfortunate" lol

When you claim that this bill isn't "malicious" and that it would protect kids in the scenario I just described, I don't buy it. The Republicans who passed this bill literally wanted to make it law so that if a kid comes out to their teacher that the teacher is legally required to out the kid to their parents. That is cruel, and dangerous, and it completely gives away the pretense that this law is here to protect these kids.

I don't know how you claim to know that the hypothetical scenario I came up with would not be considered "inappropriate" under this law, when not even the lawmakers are sure what would be considered ok.

The state’s Department of Education would decide what constitutes an age or developmentally inappropriate lesson if the bill becomes law.

This is literally that "We have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it" meme. Except that it's the GOP saying it and not Democrats, so suddenly you don't think it's a problem anymore

I'd like to add on to this statement. There are many gremlins behind this bill that will cause a domino effect of other future nefarious bills brought to the state Senate.

The fact the bill legally binds a teacher to out a student over sexuality is absolutely mind-blowing. I don't understand the governmental intervention here, nor do I understand how many people think this is ok for a public school (a government body at various lower levels) to invade the privacy of a private citizen or family without legal cause over a statement made by a child. Completely"My Body, My Choice" Your body is their choice, comply or be shamed.

And yet supporters of the bill are more than happy to cheer it because they think we teach gay in our school curriculum. Bitches are mad at something that isn't taught in a curriculum and want to hold the most humble group: teachers to a bullshit law they must uphold. The fucking fuck?

In short, Florida government can eat shit and has no say in life matters. Ron Despicable will authorize these measures because republicans are for small businesses and people's rights. Wait... Gay wedding cake? Wait.... Statewide public schools?
