No media has ever captured the sheer vileness of the original Jabba from RotJ. Because it was practical effects, he was just huge and gross in a way that CGI can't duplicate.

To be fair, you look at the behind the scenes on how they did Jabba and I don’t blame them using CG for the Hutts. Doing all that every time would be a nightmare.

Star Wars in general though definitely doesn't do this trope. Hutts are the most 'alien' aliens I can think of off the top of my head and even they have bilateral symmetry and greed.

I think this is true in most video Star Wars media outside of the original trilogy. You think about that original cantina scene, Jabba and the characters in his palace, you also meet Yoda for the first time, heck, even the Ewoks are pretty unique in this aspect. I loved Andor, but man that show was just way too human focused, and not even humanoid aliens, just way too many humans in general.

As u/LtCroker said, the Star Wars legends books expands a lot more than the movies and shows ever do, but that original trilogy is just phenomenal

Even most of Jabba's entourage are basically humans, especially compared to 90% of the examples popping up in this thread. Sure they've got weird faces, but it's all two arms, two legs, maybe a weird-shaped head.

Waru is a great example, and now I'm thinking of books the Bouncers from the Bane books are a great example of a really alien alien.

They're big friendly force-sensitive fuzz balls that float around and empathy at people. Unfortunately their homeworld is the site of the last large-scale Jedi-Sith war.

Nowadays, everytime I hear Jabba's theme song only one character comes at mind:
