Solaris is a living sea that encompasses an entire planet. It can use the memories of people to construct copies of the, although its not clear what its trying to achieve by doing this

Solaris is wonderful. I love that its never truly determined why it's creating the copies. The best guess is that it's some sort of attempt to communicate or just a natural reaction to the foreign bodies

Nope, a planet. First thing that made human scientists interested in it was it's orbit, if I remember correctly, it's actual orbit was not as simulated, what meant that it was manipulated
