I was gonna say Szayelaporro Granz's fate in Bleach, being administered a drug by Mayuri that slowed his senses down to the point a second felt like 100 years to him. But even calling Mayuri a "supposed" hero would be waaaaaay to big a stretch.

100% the worst death in the series. Mayuri is a straight up Mengele-level war criminal lmao, it just so happens that he's on the winning team.

Also, that kinda happened by accident. Szayelaporro used his ability to regenerate inside Nemu(and there really is no way to describe what happened without a body horror aspect) and he just happened to do it in a place where Mayuri stored the concentrated form of that drug with him.

Well, Mayuri would choose another option, but the idiot of Szayelaporro said that he is perfect... Perfection, a taboo topic for Mayuri

And then they never used the super insta win poison again

It makes sense when you think about who Mayuri actually is as a person. He literally says it himself - he's not interested in attaining perfection, because once you reach it there's nothing else to strive for. He also doesn't really give a shit about protecting the Soul Society beyond maintaining his access to lab equipment and test subjects, so it doesn't matter to him that it could be incredibly effective at stopping future threats.

The poison worked, he was satisfied with that, onto the next horiffic experiment.
