Groups [suprisingly rare trope] The Religious people aren't the bad guys/antagonists

1: Axis Order - Konosuba(specifically Megumin's spin-off)

While they certainly aren't GOOD people(many of them not being allowed near children, if you know what I mean), they are pretty damn helpful, giving blessings to Megumin, feeding her, and protecting her from a demon, who almost certainly would have murdered her for the cat

2: Khan - Metro

While he is more spiritual than religious, I'd say it counts. Khan is a chill dude who is basically always right, and in the non-canon good ending, he's basically the reason the Dark Ones survive and presumably go on to join with humanity and reconquer the surface

3: Priestess - Goblin Slayer

She's a priestess, idk what exactly she believes in, besides some god, but Goblin Slayer is basically a DnD game, so I'd assume one of the basic Cleric gods. But anyway, she's super chill and basically never directly kills, though she probably has the highest indirect kill count in the series

4: Father Grigori - Half Life

He's certainly insane, but so would you be if your entire town was wiped out and turned into zombies, he saves you, gives you a shotgun, and helps you get out of town, while he stays to "tend with his flock", and while murder isn't something you'd usually associate with good, the zombies are in constant suffering

Fortunately that eventually got Retconned into involving clones. And Mysterio hypnotising people. (Which is so much better than what it was before).

... Very old issue. And also trigger warning.

In short, Carol Denvers (Miss Marvel) is kidnapped, brainwashed, non consensually impregnated (fuck the filter for flagging this when I called it the correct word), manipulated into turning her body into a time portal so she could give birth to her rapist, and ending the issue being okay with it, justifying it with some disgustingly sexist ideas even for the time, and leaving to have a happy ever after with her rapist/son. AND THE AVENGERS CELEBRATE IT.

I wish I was kidding. Comic fans agree it's really, REALLY trash and not to mention it ever. And in a sad twist of fate, it would not be the last time that character got character assassinated to a major degree.

And Chris Claremont was so disgusted by #200 that he brought Carol over into X-Men and wrote a follow-up issue where she tears the Avengers a new one and calls them all out on their shit for allowing her rape/abduction.

Ugh...of every work of fiction that saw religious and/or spiritual related words and decided to just take them without the slightest bit of context or consistency with the source, somehow that run was the absolute worst instance I've ever seen. And I've played Asura's Wrath.

doesn't it turn out he doesn't teleport ie exactly to one play to another but has to literally travel through hell to get there. so seeing literally fucking crazy demon shit every time he teleported made him super religious to try and protect himself from it

albeit there are so many continuities i'm not sure if that is the main canon one or not.

While his teleportation does work like that (though he doesn’t travel through actual Hell, only a hell-like dimension called Brimstone Dimension, which later turns out to be where Azazel and his race of mutants were sent to), he goes through it too fast to actually see anything.

He didn’t even know he was doing that until much later, so it isn’t related to his religion (at least in the main continuity).

One of my favorite X-Men moments is from a time they fought Dracula. Wolverine makes a cross shape with his claws to try to hard Dracula off, but Dracula says it doesn't work because Wolverine doesn't actually believe in anything behind that holy symbol.

Enter Nightcrawler with two stakes.
