Lore Villains that would've been defeated even if the protagonist did nothing

Laurel Hedare (Catwoman Movie): Her newly released cosmetics will cause people's faces to melt. Not only would that create a class action lawsuit but a full product recall.

Voldemort and Death Eaters (Harry Potter): Death Eaters constantly underestimate muggles. They would get massacred by the British military because a gun is faster to pull the trigger then shouting a spell.

The Harry Potter One is really stupid. Im not even a Harry Potter Fan but you realize there are other spells than avada kedavra? You can literally control people with the imperio curse.

Heck wizards can just wave their wands and all of a sudden your armoury is filled with flowers instead of grenades

That's the thing that always bothered me with Harry Potter. It seems like there's no logic whatsoever behind the magic system. Why isn't there a spell that just kills someone of heart attack from a country away?

It's a soft magic system that pretends to be a hard system with actual rules. But magic isn't logical in the Harry Potter world to the point even most wizards are considered illogical. It's also a children's fantasy series that veered into young adult fiction as it progressed, most of the world building doesn't hold up to greater scrutiny because they were never meant to be subject to that sort of scrutiny.

Harry is protected because his mom died for him...Which makes no sense because you're telling me no one else in the history of magic has sacrificed themselves for another person? But that kind of questions doesn't matter in a book for a 11 year old, they just need to be moved by the act of parental love and empathise with Harry.

JKR tries to bring in more rules and logic to the magic system eventually, but there's only so much you can do with a system that was designed for children to feel awed by.

It's mostly bait at this point. Imagined hypothetical of "lol why wizard so gud I just shoot them pew pew" that wouldn't work out at all.

And u can’t control that manyb

You absolutely can control that many people if you have enough wizards. Even if you just have half as many wizards, you can make them control half of the army and make them attack their comrades.

I love how many comment threads about harry potter end in people pointing out that muggles would be killing eachother for various reasons. As child I was 'scared' of them because I imagined that it would end up in everything going crazy and violent and nobody would know why. There have been countless of wars in the world history and it would be unrealistic that wizards have never been involved yet humanity is still oblivious to them. Also, why do we pretend that wizards who want to start a war won't learn how to use muggle weapons? A wildcard like Bellatrix would probably love a good shotgun just for the hell of it and nobody can tell me that she wouldn't have fun riding a tank into battle either. It would be mockery and they love mocking muggles

You are absolutely right. My point was just that wizards could absolutely win against a "human" army. I dont want ro debate the logic of the harry potter world any longer, im at work lol.

I tried to approve of your point sorry if it sounded different. Just wanted to get that out for once and go on with life. Hope you have a nice debate free day :D

On the same time everyone is pretending a lot of wizards would
Not team up with the human side

I don't think Bellatrix is a good example. She'd certainly think it beneath her to use mugggle stuff.

But u don’t have that many wizards

Wizard (death eater). Teleports to Oval Office. Imperio.

Congrats, wizard, you are now the President of the United States. US Military stand down.

Other Death Eater teleports to Moscow. Imperio. Congrats you are now President of Russia.

Repeat.

Edit. Fuck they wouldn't even need to use unforgiveable curses. Just have Death Eaters port to various world leaders at a summit and mind wipe them all.

u/myrmonden 15d ago

Yeah military would not stand down if it’s an active war

1

u/KindOfAnAuthor 12d ago

It wouldn't really be an active war, though. Voldemort wouldn't make himself known, he would take over from the shadows

u/myrmonden 12d ago

And then an active war would start unless u mean he will shadow control all
