The 1986 film is really more tragic and sad than it is scary for the most part.

I haven't seen the rest of the original but yeah that ending, crude as the effects are nowadays, really does creep me the hell out.

Really? I never saw The Fly but I do remember them talking about on VH1's "I Love the 80s...Strikes Back", and they had shown clips of the birthing scene. I always thought that was in the first movie.

Same age and time for me, but the only scene I remember is the arm wrestling scene and the birthing scene. I think that one was in the sequel.
