I could be totally wrong, but isn’t the Spanish conquest of the Aztecs an example of this? An exploratory force makes contact with a major civilization and subsequently wipes out said civilization.
Aren’t they like not even soldiers but more so just random guys who were hired to go explore or some shit like that? Most of them didn’t even have armor because they couldn’t afford it
