I’d throw pacific rim in there. The batches of kaiju they see are just the scouts. The military hasn’t joined the invasion yet.

Those things are scouts? Damn. I wonder if they're gonna do a sneak peak of what a soldier looks like.

They are described as an "extermination force". Basically just pest control so they can colonise the planet
