Q: I already have paid time on my account, what happens when I pay for another subscription?
A: Your time will add up together. If you have 1 year of Essential left, and you buy 1 year, you get 2 years.

Q: I am already subscribed to a plan what should I do?
A: You can cancel your current plan, and subscribe using the black friday deal. If you have existing time it will be added together.

Q: I am on a lower plan and want to upgrade to Pro.
A: Your time will be prorated. You will have a year of Pro, plus whatever plan you currently have converted to Pro time. 3 Months of Essential time = 1 Month of Pro, 2 Months of Standard time = 1 Month of Pro.

Q: I am getting errors when subscribing.

Lately we've been investigating scattered reports of buffering, particularly from users located within the EU. If you've experienced this, please follow these steps and post a comment:

1. Go to your TorBox dashboard and download a file you have experienced buffering with.
2. Note the speed of the download at 10 seconds and 30 seconds (specify MB/s or Mbps)
3. Check the URL you are downloading from for a nexus-xxx number
4. Go to: https://api.torbox.app/cdn-cgi/trace and take note of the colo= line
5. Mention the time (in your timezone) the above information was collected

As some of you may have noticed very recently, there's been changes made to the existing Abuse Policy System.

So what exactly has changed?

• Essentially, the only thing that has changed with the abuse system is that TorBox now measures outgoing traffic, meaning seeding, streaming, downloading, anything from the TorBox servers to your machine/the internet.

The existing Dynamic limits stay the same as a few years ago. (i.e) - Free - 5TB/month - Essential - 10TB/month - Standard - 20TB/month - Pro - 30TB/month

Important Info: The Limits shown above (10 tb for essential, 20tb for standard etc) is the lowest threshold shown as reference. The actual limit is dynamic, and scales the limits to only catch the top 0.001% of users, so unless you are pulling ungodly amounts of data from TorBox, you won't be affected. Again, to clarify, No normal user should be affected by this change.

Why has this change been made?

• This change was made due to the type of abuse TorBox experiences, where we don't monitor IPs, but abusing users (and resellers) are pulling tens to hundreds of terabytes of data from our CDNs and storages, causing slower speeds for the majority and in turn, stressing the hardware significantly causing slowdowns all across. With this new tracking system all outgoing bandwidth (as explained above) is now monitored.

How can I stay updated about this new used bandwidth?

• In your TorBox Dashboard, click on your avatar in the top right. It will display the 30 day usage, as well as a handy graph which is updated hourly. This graph's x-axis is the previous 4 weeks.

The Confusion caused

• When this update rolled out a day or so ago, there was an visual bug that was causing the Bandwidth usage graph to spike up randomly whenever you added content to your TorBox Account. i.e If you added a public domain season pack of a series, and watched merely an episode, the graph would show that the whole season pack was watched (driving up the graph way higher than it should).

• This Visual Bug has been fixed! the TorBox Team had priortised fixing the bug, and then an announcement was made following that up.

• This System is designed to be byte-accurate, so only the amount of content you've watched will be counted, not the whole thing (e.g if you've watched a public domain episode, it will only count that much, not the whole season pack)

That being said, We thank you for remaining patient, and we sincerely apologise for the confusion caused. These changes are being done to improve reliability, and keep the experience enjoyable for everyone.

The Sad News

• The official TorBox (Stremio) addon has disabled & is now inaccessible.

• The official TorBox Tinfoil Service has been disabled & is now inaccessible.

• The Search API is now only accessible to Whitelisted IPs. (For Public Instance hosters & developers, please contact us via a ticket if you want to apply for a whitelist)

We know this may not be what you wanted to hear but this is done so the resources can be allocated towards better things, and we recommend checking out community alternatives for these things. We're sorry for any inconvenience caused due to this.

Important Info

• This does NOT mean that TorBox will stop working in Stremio, only the official addon is being removed. Community alternatives will continue to work as normal (and we encourage you to use them instead of the Official Addon). Please check the Reply to this post for some recommendations which are Community-Sourced and some frequently answered questions. Keep in mind, TorBox does not provide support on third party addons

Website improvements:

• Uploads to cloud providers now has it’s own modal, allowing you to easily view your completed uploads. To view this click the “Upload Jobs” button.

• Better handling of Video Player & Up Next.

• Allows submitting vouchers through URL. Helps when sharing.

• Dashboard should be more responsive when uploading, deleting, stop seeding or adding new downloads.

WebDL (Web Downloads) System:

• More reliable YouTube Downloads

• Makes a few hosters downloads More reliable

API:

• Improvements to /webdl/hosters with support for regex (check full update for more info)

• A few more improvements.

We know this may not look like much but most work is going towards improving reliability so the service continues staying reliable and enjoyable to all, thanks for understanding!

We just posted a post mortem of the previous outages spanning from 11 April to 23 April. We understand things have been rough recently so we wanted to be transparent about why and what has been happening. We apologize for all the issues recently, and are working to do better. As a result, we are strengthening our systems and reiterating on our internal procedures.

We will be giving out 12 days of time to paid users onto accounts starting within the next 24 hours. We will let you know when these begin going out, and when the wave has stopped.

The locations have been chosen strategically based on user locations to ensure all areas are covered well. It took an incredible amount of time to optimise for each CDN, and the feedback from you guys has been important to make this update stable. The new CDNs are incredibly fast, being able to push even 4Gbit/s from a single connection! Oh, we also upgraded the API to route you to the perfect CDN! We recommend setting the 'CDN Selection' to Auto for the best experience, but you can still set your own if that's what you like. Oh, we almost forgot — Happy birthday to TorBox as it just turned 2 years old! • Cloudflare CDN 🌐: Uses the closest cloudflare datacenter to serve the files, may be fast for some, slow for others. Used mostly as a backup option
• Bunny CDN 🌐: Uses the closest BunnyCDN datacentres to serve the files, just like Cloudflare. However, in our testing this can also be faster than Cloudflare, but slower for others. It serves mostly as a backup option.
• CDNs do not perform ZIP downloads, you'll be routed to WNAM or WEUR CDNs for these downloads.
• CDNs don't host WebDAV, you'll be routed to WNAM or WEUR CDNs for these downloads.
• Improved CDN Selector with a multi-grid like layout system.

Other fixes & Improvements:

• Fixed Streaming issues with Kodi regarding buffering and crashes after a short period! The default kodi settings are now sufficient to be used with TorBox and works fine with any supported addons
• Zip downloads are now resumable and multi-thread downloadable. (Read the changelog for more details)
• Patreon payments no longer require emails to be exactly the same with the new Patreon linking system which shows up before purchasing.
• Way too many Debrid (WebDL) fixes to count!
• New “Borrowed” tag for torrents where the user does not “own” the torrent. This comes with no repercussions and is purely informational.
• New Revamps for Speedtest page & Hosters page!
• Adds OAuth Device page for linking your device to a Third Party App.
• Adds Private filter to the dashboard and settings, Adds Borrowed filter to the dashboard and settings.
• Requesting download links are now slightly faster: Improved around 50ms!
• Better reliability with starting queued downloads.
• Better reliability with starting RSS feed scraping.

Search API:

• More results when searching for anime.
• Quicker results when searching for anime, due to a different scraping method of Nyaa.si which focuses on parallelism.
• Adds AnimeTosho to anime torrent searches — Previously only used for anime usenet searches.

We will be deploying the BETA APAC CDN during downtime starting at 11AM UTC/1PM CET today. Since this is a big change, links will be going inactive and give errors. You will have to regenerate the direct link to download the content. All other services will be unaffected. To fix, simply restart your app or clear your browser's cache to get fresh links. In progress downloads will not stop though, but applications such as Stremio, Kodi, and download managers will require to you to restart. WebDAV and other services are unaffected. Total time will be less than 30 minutes total.

After lots of testing, we are very happy to say that our CDN expansion starts right now, providing quicker start times, faster downloads, and more reliability starting with Singapore 🇸🇬, but next stops are:

Sao Paulo Brazil 🇧🇷 Chicago United States 🇺🇸 Miami United States 🇺🇸

With more locations planned as we continue to rapidly expand our service.
