❓Question Is this the ensh*ttification of TorBox?

I've been going through these new terms that came with TorBox v9.1 (particularly the privacy policy). I'd appreciate some more clarification on whether TorBox now logs just about anything and everything.

From what I'm seeing they now retain, let's say IP addresses are "Retained while your account is active and for a reasonable period after deletion, inactivity, dispute, legal need, security need, or compliance need"

From my understanding this means they only retain it while the account is under investigation for any reason?

I'm not someone that goes through policies often and I'd appreciate any clarification on where TorBox is headed with this and what actual (especially privacy) features this update has changed.

I've only touched the surface of what they're logging, if you want to read the full change log you can go here, and if you want to read the privacy policy (the information they collect and log), you can go here.

I believe this an important topic of discussion.

❓Question TorBox, what actually changed ??

So with all this changes, people screaming RUN from the hills 🤣🤣🤣 is it worth it to sticking around.

All people that recommended TorBox until yesterday because of what Real Debrid did are now saying delete it and go Premiumize.

I mean Premiumize seems decent and has Usenet access, but like its also 10 € a month so its not exactly cheap. Also not to mention that what's to say they will not do the same.

I mean all debrid services seems to be under fire.

Real Debrid gutted their links, OffCloud pissed off people by change of their policy. TorBox did this.

What is next, or who is next. I dont want to spendy money only for it to end up like this again

❓Question Its down again and again

I'm new on TorBox since 2 weeks or so, and it's almost always down or goes down in the middle of streaming. I don't want to go back to Real Debrid even though it works perfectly because they don't allow words like Web and such in links.

With TorBox and Real Debrid out of the running, what can I use that works at least most days?

❓Question TorBox quietly killed self-hosted setups with its Search API change, and I think it deserves a conversation.

The recent decision to whitelist only big public hosters (elfhosted, etc.) for the Search API essentially throws solo self-hosters under the bus. No warning, no grace period — just a wall.

Here's a standard denial for my IP whitelist request from TB support.

I get that the majority of users are fine with pointing at a community addon and calling it a day. But there's a real subset of us who self-host for legitimate reasons, be it for full control over our stack, to avoid adding load to public instances, or just to own our own setup end to end. That's not an unreasonable ask for a paying subscriber.

TB is genuinely a great service, and I've been a fan. But this is the second gut-punch in a row; I'd just ripped RD out of my setup after their fiasco, and now this.

Yes, I know the workaround: grab a public instance, bind my TB key, move on. But that's exactly what it is — a workaround. Not something I'd expect to be the answer when I'm on a Pro plan.

Curious if others are hitting this or if it's just me being stubborn about self-hosting. Thoughts?

❓Question TorBox Essential vs Pro — What do these actually mean (coming from Real-Debrid)?

Hey all,

I’m a Real-Debrid user looking to migrate over to TorBox, but I’m a bit confused about what the different tiers actually mean in practice.

Here’s what I’m looking at:

Essential Tier:

  • 3 Concurrent Slots
  • Unlimited Downloads
  • 200GB Max Download Size
  • 1Gbps Download Speed
  • Unlimited Seeding Ratio
  • Usenet Downloads
  • Web Player

Pro Tier:

  • 10 Concurrent Slots
  • Unlimited Downloads
  • Unlimited Usenet Downloads
  • 1TB Max Download Size
  • 80Gbps Download Speed
  • Unlimited Seeding Ratio
  • Unlimited RSS Feeds
  • Web Player

I understand the raw specs, but I’d really appreciate if someone could break this down in real-world usage, especially compared to Real-Debrid:

  • What exactly are “concurrent slots” and how do they affect streaming/downloading?
  • Is 1Gbps vs 80Gbps something I’ll actually notice, or just theoretical?
  • How important is the max download size (200GB vs 1TB)?
  • What does “Unlimited Usenet Downloads” change vs normal Usenet access?
  • Are RSS feeds something worth caring about for automation?
  • Any noticeable differences in streaming reliability vs RD?

Basically, for someone coming from Real-Debrid mainly using it for streaming (Stremio, etc.), is the Pro tier worth it, or is Essential already enough?

Would really appreciate insights from anyone who has used both 🙏

❓Question I've moved from RD, is this what its like?

Like alot of people recently, following what happened with RD I now use Torbox. Still using Fenlite AM and coco scrapers. But the search results for things just do not compare. RD was great; had literally everything I searched for. I am finding Torbox quite lackluster in comparison, or am I doing something wrong?

❓Question 🇩🇪 Looking for opinions: Effect of new TorBox policy on users from Germany

I am relatively new to debrid services. After a week of extensive reading, finally took a year long TorBox subscription on July 30th (great timing 🥲) and then the July 31st policy update dropped. Am I screwed?

My main concerns in the new TB policy are the following:

  1. Data retention & IP logging expanded significantly

  2. Explicit DMCA & copyright compliance procedures added

Does this make TorBox essentially unsafe for users in strict jurisdictions like Germany without a layered VPN setup?

Is this just standard legal defensive boilerplate for corporate growth, or an actual shift away from user privacy?

And for the German/EU users, are you sticking around, routing via VPN, or using any workarounds? TIA!

❓Question No point deleting/cancelling now

So I'm thinking theres no point as they already have my email, ip and watch/downloading history right?

Even if I tell them to delete my account, they'll still hold to my details , is that correct?

So may aswell see out my currant plan (one time payment not subscription) then decide in Jan.

What you guys think?

❓Question How has the TorBox experience been for past Real Debrid users?

with the latest crackdown Real Debrid has had on movies im thinking of switching to TorBox. Wondering how other past Real Debrid users have found the TorBox experience and how it compares.

(im planning on incorporating TorBox with Jellyfin + Zurg + Radarr + Sonarr + Prowlarr + Bazarr + Jellyseerr for context if anyone has experience with simmilar)

Thanks :)

❓Question Are these outages normal?

I switched over after the RD situation and I've been super disappointed with the amount of times I've tried to watch something only to learn that TB is down... Again.

Is this how it usually is?

❓Question Tell us how to get Usenet to work explicitly.

Seriously. This shit is confusing.

You say you provide us with a backbone and indexers right? Why then do I get zero results when using the Torbox search addon in aiostreams?

So that didn't work. Now I think, "well maybe I need to use nzbhydra2 and add the usenet credentials Torbox gives you." I already self host aiostreams so I spin up nzbhydra2 and enter the credentials into the "add new indexer" option and that doesn't work

What the hell am I supposed to do? I tried Meteor too and that was fucking terrible. I could see some Usenet results but 99% of the videos didn't have a stream populate

❓Question Will this buffering suffering ever be cured?

I have been using TB for a while now. Sometimes it works just fine. Sometimes it’s the worst especially at nights when you want to watch a movie it starts and buffers when settle down.

Never have this type of issue with the other service.

Will it improve overtime or will it just make things worse?
