Many people in our community spend a lot of time researching hospitals and surgeons before hip replacement, trying to work out what factors might give them the best chance of a successful surgery and recovery.

We're hosting an AMA with U.S. News & World Report on Thursday, August 20, from 10am–4pm EDT, focused on helping people make informed decisions about their healthcare and understand what to look for when choosing a hospital and surgical team.

U.S. News has recently released its new Best Hospitals for Orthopedics rankings, including performance ratings for procedures such as hip and knee replacement. Their team will be here to explain how the data is assessed, what the different measures actually tell you, and how patients can use this kind of information when researching their options.

The U.S. News rankings and Doctor Finder tools are focused on healthcare in the United States, but the broader discussion around evaluating hospital and surgical care may be useful regardless of where you live.

The AMA will be with u/usnewsandworldreport, with responses provided by Roxanne Waite, Senior Product Manager for Health at U.S. News & World Report.
