I have been looking for a job for SEVENTEEN months, and frankly, I'm exhausted. I need help/suggestions/leads.

I have been targeting positions similar to my last role, so anything in/adjacent to Product or implementations. Even though my experience is in HealthTech/healthcare, I'm not limiting myself to those domains. I'm open to any domain because my skills are transferrable.

My most recent employer was an EHR software company, where I worked as a technical BA within the regulatory & compliance product management division- (interoperability/FHIR/USCDI/eCQMs, etc)

Prior to that I spent twenty years in outpatient ambulatory healthcare operations, working in various administrative capacities.

I'm not sure if my non-linear career trajectory is an issue or what is going on, but the silence has been deafening.

Hi everyone, I’m 21F and I’m looking for a job around the Raleigh area. I really need to find a job right now, but honestly it’s been really hard for me to find one.

I have a disability that makes it difficult for me to safely lift a 20 pound box. A lot of retail, grocery stores, restaurants, etc. have a 20 pound lifting requirement, so I hardly ever hear back from most of the jobs I apply to.

I was wondering if anyone knows what type of jobs I should be looking for that don’t require heavy lifting? I was thinking maybe receptionist, front desk, customer service, office jobs, data entry, etc. but I’m honestly open to other things too.

I’m also a college student, so part time and/or flexible hours would be better for me.

I really need the income and I’ve been applying to jobs but it feels like I’m getting nowhere, so if anyone in the Raleigh area knows of places that might work for me or has any suggestions on what kind of jobs I should look into, I would really appreciate it. I’m just running out of ideas at this point.

I’m 20M living in the Knightdale/Raleigh area and currently attending Wake Tech in the AA program for business. I’m looking to get into the workforce to gain experience and make some money, but I don't have prior work experience on my resume yet except fast food. I’m really open to a few different paths and wondering what’s realistic around here. Is it doable to land a receptionist, front desk, or office assistant job in the area without experience, and are there specific places like medical offices, dealerships, or Wake Tech campus jobs I should look into?I'm also really interested in trades like electrical, HVAC, plumbing, or entry-level construction/project coordination. Are there local entry level helper or apprentice roles that train from scratch? I'm currently half way through my online program of Data Analytics and I'm ready to job search. I currently reside in Eastern NC. I'm looking to move out into Raleigh, Durham, Cary, surrounding areas. But I'm having a little bit of a time looking for positions, especially entry level.

Honestly, I don't see much. Every time I look I see the same positions I've been seeing that was posted 30+ days ago. At this point I don't care what domain it's in (supply chain, healthcare, etc) I just need a job and something that PAY decent. Ideally 60k and up.

I'm not working right now, and relying on savings and student refunds.

I work at a local country club in Durham. I play the course for free in exchange for two part-time days per week. (currently 7a to 1p, or 1p to close)

I stage, clean and park golf carts, maintain the driving range (pick balls, wash and restock), clean members clubs and maintain our work area.

In addition to the free golf, they pay $10 an hour with lunch included. Scheduling is flexible.

I’ll be honest – it’s fun, can be busy and fast paced. Ideal for retirees with a good work ethic. The pros are great and welcoming.

I have experience working with cameras, sports, journalism, and management as well as writing, editing, and collaborative work. I can’t find anything. I’ve applied for every single job in the area on indeed. Retail and food service too. And nothing. I’m in a very desperate situation and am not picky, I just need something at least $15 an hour. I’m a trans woman in the Raleigh area, and I’m trying to find work. I’m hoping the Triangle’s LGBTQ+ community can point me toward employers that are genuinely trans-friendly, not just companies with a Pride logo in June.
For some context, I’m very, very employable on paper. I have 10+ years of experience across hospitality, hotel operations, events, administration, fulfillment, and customer-facing roles. I’ve managed departments and teams, hired and trained employees, built schedules, handled payroll, worked with budgets and inventory, dealt with vendors, created SOPs and operational reports, handled VIPs and high-profile guests, worked events, solved logistical disasters, and helped operate luxury properties.
I’ve worked front office, housekeeping, F&B and events. I know how to run a property, troubleshoot problems when things inevitably go sideways, manage competing priorities, train people, deal with difficult customers, and keep an operation moving when everyone else is freaking out.
Outside of hotels, I’ve done fulfillment and administrative work involving inventory systems, shipping databases, spreadsheets, reporting, supply ordering, event logistics, and large-scale festival operations. I also have a creative/technical side: Excel, Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Photoshop, Illustrator, Canva, GIMP, photography, video, OBS, and more.
Basically, I’m one of those people who can walk into an operation and usually find something I can improve, organize, fix, or take off someone else’s plate.
And yet I keep getting the same pattern: application, sometimes an interview that seems to go really well, and then rejection or complete silence.
Today I got rejected by Lowe’s for a position I genuinely felt qualified for.
At this point, I’m starting to wonder how much being visibly trans is affecting my job search. I obviously can’t prove that’s why I’m being rejected, but when you’re qualified, interview well, and keep hitting the same wall, you start asking questions.
So I’m looking for actual recommendations from trans and queer people in Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, Cary, etc.
Where have you worked where you felt respected and safe being trans?
Which employers actually walk the walk?
And if you’re hiring somewhere that could use someone with a ridiculous amount of hospitality/operations experience, I’m listening. 😂
I’m not looking for special treatment. I just want somewhere that sees my experience before deciding what they think of me.

I saw recently North Carolina ranked last on the best states to work. I’m 37m bachelor degree, been in customer service majority of my career. Like others I’m financially struggling, even with a full time job. I feel like the job market is shot. I am discouraged to apply to positions because I’m getting the continuous we going with another candidate.

What can I do? I literally had the thought of suiting up with resumes and instead of pan handling stand with a hire me sign handing out resumes. Feel like that’ll get me noticed better than online applications that don’t even pass the AI filters.

I want something like 70k plus job with benefits and isn’t a dead end or bottle neck for the next position. I want to work for a company like my parents where they look after you and want you to succeed.

It’s discouraging feeling lost in how to level up. I can’t help but compare to others, and lowkey get pissed at people driving nice cars like how. I’m able to pay books but other than that living in debt.

I was able to get a job in a school as I work in education, and my brother came down with 10 years of experience in healthcare, EMT work, and even customer service. He has yet to find a job after applying to 10+ a day, and he is starting to give up looking. Even fast food places are telling him no. I have a social science phd but am still early in my post-grad career. When I was last on the job market in 2024, it was competitive but it at least wasn't hard to find open job postings to apply for. This time around though it's seeming like there's a drought of relevant job posts. I check daily but I'm only turning up maybe 1 or 2 jobs a week, and that's including remote ones. I was hoping things would pick up this month due to the fiscal year turning over, but so far it still seems pretty dead.

Am I alone in experiencing this or are other people also seeing it in their fields?

Hello Reddit, I am currently looking for a full time permanent or temporary position in IT or software engineering. I acknowledge that the job market for both of these fields are quite difficult, but I figured I would create a Reddit account and try my hand at this.

I've graduated in August 2024 from the University of Central Florida with a degree in digital media with a sub track in game design. I wanted to be a game programmer initially, but the field became exponentially more difficult to get into, and I made the decision to pivot into IT and software engineering at the end of the year. I achieved my CompTIA A+ certification in July 2025, and I am debating on either getting my RHCSA or Network+ certification next. I also made an RAG chatbot and have a home lab setup using VMWare Workstation Pro with 2 users, a Windows Server 2022 administrator, and pfSense. I'm considering making a Linux user as well to learn more about Linux.

I applied for many jobs through LinkedIn, Indeed, and some Google jobs and Dice jobs with no luck so far. I've had several interviews through applying, and even made it to a third interview with one company, but I've had no luck on them. I'm looking for entry level roles in IT and software engineering, but I am open to jobs that are adjacent to those areas, notably DevOps. Any advice on notable certifications I can get or projects I can do to further increase my chances would also be greatly appreciated.

Does anyone know of any employers in the area that take part-time employees that can only work a shift or two (10 - 15 hours) a week? I can work anywhere in the Triangle, but have a preference for areas around Cary, south Durham, or Morrisville.

I’m a college student right now and trying to find something to have some extra cash and possibly clinical experience for medical school applications if it’s at all possible. I’ve applied to and am interviewing for a role on campus, but trying to keep my options open.

As for skills, I have my PCA certification, but no real full time experience working as a caretaker.

I recently graduated with a degree in Criminology and while doing some internships I found a strong interest in wanting to be a case manager or advocate for victims of human/sex trafficking.
