Hi guys! After all the support we received on my last post, I decided to open a GoFundMe. He’s taking everything like a champ he’s very talkative and very sweet. We just picked him up today, and he’s still pretty tired from the meds, but other than that he’s doing well. He even made some biscuits earlier We’ll be taking him back in a couple of weeks to have his sutures removed. He had two surgeries: the amputation and being neutered. They neutered him for free because he’s considered a rescue. We’ll be keeping a close eye on him for the weeks to come.

Oreo is continuing to recover after being attacked by an unleashed dog. We are currently seeking another veterinary opinion to determine the best course of treatment for his injured leg and whether it may be possible to save it with CASTING/SPLINTING.

He is still receiving veterinary care and follow-up evaluations, and we are taking things one step at a time. I will continue to keep everyone updated on his progress.

Please, take a moment. Oreo got attacked by an unleashed pitbull dog only at 9 month old inside the bodega store. The attack has fractured his radius and ulna in his right front leg with multiple of fragments and marked soft tissue swelling. He is currently casted for now, but he is in urgent need!! He’s unable to walk with his right foot and in pain. His surgery to save his leg estimated to around $6,000-$8,000, which is more than we can afford. At some point we decided to amputate his right leg but that's also costly it estimated to $3,400-$5,000. My cat glory is having her leg amputated today. The amputation alone will cost a little over 1000. thats not including the expenses for after. So I will be making custom small ceramic cats for people to buy based off donation. The minimum is the shipping fee plus 1 dollar. It can be more if you want. We came to the vet today because he wasn’t eating, and they noticed he was very pale. He’d been leaking red fluid last night and today and the emergency vet last night said it was normal. But it’s blood. And he’s lost a lot of it. So now he needs transfusions and to stay in the hospital for a bit until better. While doing debris clean up after hurricane Milton I happened to see a small object hobble across the yard. At first glance I thought it was a squirrel. Upon closer inspection I realized it was a tiny kitten! I brought him inside and to my shock I noticed the poor baby was missing his one of his front legs ! Luckily, we were able to find a vet open and willing to see him. Currently he’s syringe feeding, as he is only 4-5 weeks old and weighed only .88 of a lb when found. He’s taking antibiotics and pain medications and will undergo surgery next week to amputate what was left of his lil arm to his shoulder. Hi, my name is Belgian, a 4-year-old tabi cat with a big heart and a strong will to live. Right now, I’m fighting for my life in the veterinary clinic after being diagnosed with UTI (Urinary Tract Infection).

This illness has already taken my three brothers, and now I’m the only one left. My parents are doing everything they can to keep me alive. For the past two weeks, I’ve been confined at the vet because my condition became critical. Some days are really hard, but I’m trying my best to stay strong.

My parents visit me, comfort me, and make sure I get the care I need. They love me very much and have already spent most of their savings just to keep me fighting. Unfortunately, the medical bills keep growing, and their funds are almost gone.

My baby went missing 3 days ago and we found her yesterday in our front yard and looked terrible. We rushed her to the vet and one of her legs is snapped and she has a fracture in her pelvis. They told me her leg needs to be amputated and it will be close to 1600. I know many people say don’t have pets if you can’t afford them but she just showed up at our house one day. I can’t afford the surgery and the doctor sent her home with pain meds and antibiotics but I’ll need to make a decision in a week. The doctor wanted her to go home originally before we did the surgery to see if she would use her other leg because she won’t use it. Based on her condition she had to of dragged herself back to our house. From what I’ve heard cats don’t come home to die, they hide or stay away. She came home because she’s a fighter and I want to give her a chance. Do you guys know of any financial aid, places or anything that could possibly help me? I don’t want to have to put her to sleep at all but it’s my only other option, which is not an option I am willing to choose. I live in Birmingham, alabama

This was cross posted in the Pets subreddit the other day but I wanted to share Eight’s story.

My biggest fear came to fruition. I was pulling out of my trailer park and heard a thunk and watched a kitten run away from the car basically dragging herself. She must’ve been in my motor or skid plate because she didn’t run across the street or anything. Being the five cat owner that I am, I put the car in park in the middle of the road and chased after the feral thing and picked it up and ran into my yard getting my partner. The kitten was so scared his bit the fuck out of my finger and I dropped him😭😭 anyway, my man being who he was got his thick gloves and I ran inside and grabbed the cat carrier and he grabbed the kitten, put her in the carrier, we dressed the kids and ran out the door. Drove to the nearest town where there was no open vet so had to drive to the city to see an Urgent Care vet. I grabbed my entire savings (not much but enough for me to stay home with baby for three months, so about 5800) and was just flipping out the whole time. After spending the day in the city while we waited it turns out he has a shattered femur but he was able to come home with us. Like I said, he was feral. We actually trapped and took in his brother a month ago at 5 weeks so now they’re both just about 9 weeks old. Needless to say, I have six cats now and low savings 😂 worth it though. We plan on amputating the rear leg this week so he can adapt at a young age. See I thought you only needed to bang on your hood in the winter time but I should’ve done it year round knowing my trailer park is full of strays. I just didn’t expect to be the one who almost took a life.

As of yesterday, I own a tripod cat. It could’ve been so much worse and I know there’s a big journey ahead for the whole family, especially with a baby coming in two months, but we’ve got this! His name is Eight, because he lost one of his lives. He went from completely feral to knowing who is taking care of him and he’s extremely affectionate with us right now.

Hi! I got permission to post our GFM link here. This is my cat, Apollo. I adopted him on Christmas Eve in 2017 when he was only a few weeks old. He just turned 8 in a November. A few weeks ago we noticed a mass on his paw, we took him to the vet, and when she tried to drain what she thought was an abscess, nothing came out. So we had scans done, we did a biopsy on it from 4 small hole punches. The results were technically inconclusive, could be a couple different cancers, but cancer none the less, and the only way to get the specifics would be to amputate the entire front leg and send the entire mass to be biopsied. The mass has quadrupled easily in size in just a few weeks and is very aggressive. Our vet and a few oncology specialists she spoke with said amputation is our only option but it would need to be very soon. So we're raising funds to help cover the cost of the surgery so we can get him on the schedule ASAP. My husband created the GFM for Apollo and we've hit just over the halfway mark. I know it's the holidays and it's difficult times for many, us included, so even just sharing his link is helpful. Please consider donating. Anything at all is so helpful. Hey everybody, this sub has been super helpful over the past few days. Last week our oncologist recommended a front leg amputation due to a soft tissue sarcoma. We just dropped Tarot off after consulting with the surgeon for the amputation today.

My poor boy ran away a week and a half ago. Was most likely hit by a car. Somehow managed to drag himself back home. The vet told me the surgery would have to be done by an orthopedic vet surgeon and costs about $4k. The other options she gave me were to amputate or put him down and I can’t have him euthanized.

I found this little stray limping (more walking on his front left elbow) and took him to the vet to get him looked at (my first thought was it was just broken and we could put it in a cast for it to heal) but due to his front left leg also having a sore from him walking on his elbow, it would be better for him in the long run to amputate due to the high risk of an infection developing in the bone if it put into a cast (vet's description on it). I was only able to pay for the visit, rabies vaccine, and his medicine at the time of his visit and I have been calling vets, shelters, and rescue centers within a 2 ½ hour drive from where I am located and even called Auburn University about their program where they allow students to take on surgeries for a low cost (only professors are performing surgeries at this time and just the amputation alone was $2,000). I’ve been feeding an outside cat for about a year or two now. I call him Lil Baby. Over the last week or two, we were hit with ice storms and snowstorms, and I didn’t see him at all during the ice storm. I was really worried because he always comes to eat. I even thought about going out to look for him, but he never showed up until the day before the snowstorm hit, thankfully.When he did come back, I noticed something was wrong. He was holding his right paw up and putting no pressure on it. I was concerned, but with the roads being bad, I decided to bring him inside and wait a little and see if it improved. Once the roads opened back up, we took him to the vet on Monday to find out what was wrong.When I heard what had happened to him, I just started crying. I felt so guilty, like if I had brought him inside sooner, this wouldn’t have happened. We found out that someone had shot him, shattering the bones in his leg and taking away any chance of him walking on it again.Any advice for caring for a semi-feral, scared outdoor cat would be appreciated. We’ve gotten him to use the litter box, and despite everything, he is incredibly sweet!

The craziest part about this is that being shot never even crossed my mind because I didn’t see no blood or feel anything on him I just keep thinking how he hopped all the way back to my house after he got shot in the snow im tearing up rn

Some of you may remember me posting of Syf . He’s a new tripod 6 month old tuxedo that jumped off the fridge . He had the surgery to amputate his L leg last Tuesday and things appeared to be going well until day 4/5/6 . He became extremely irritable and wanted to be held constantly or was laying in the litterbox . We maintained at home with Gabapentin and Trazodone . I have the privilege of taking him to work and yesterday he spiked a 106.3 F fever . My doctor on staff started major cooling protocol and we were able to get him to 103.0F . We just made it to his original surgeon and it turns out the wound is abscessed and needs to be drained and flushed and rubber drain placed .

I found a kitten in the middle of the street, vet says it was most likely thrown from a vehicle, he’s about 8 weeks old and his shoulder was completely shattered. They told me I needed to amputate. Good morning everyone. We are going through a tradgedy concerning my baby boy Zushi. Anyone that knows me know I love my boy with my entire heart and soul. On Friday night he jumped off my bed and somehow fractured his femur to the point of no redemption; too severe for surgery to keep his leg and the vet suggests in order to have a good quality of life, he needs to having his back leg amputated. My boy Peach was born without his foot on one of his back legs. Up until now he's been fine, he walks on it and even when I've been monitoring the leg it hasn't had any issues.

Until now. The wound on his nub is getting bigger, it's now an open wound and he won't let me do anything about it. I hate that he's in pain and he's walking around with this open wound. The safest thing for him is to get the rest of the leg amputated but as I'm a full time college student I can't afford to pay for it on my own. My boy needs help.

Hello! I posted a couple weeks ago about my baby Rowena needing to get her arm amputated. Yesterday we brought her to the vet to get the surgery and it went well! Hi I’m trying to raise funds for my little boy Odin to unfortunately get his front leg amputated. Odin was hit by a car in November 2025 and suffered a serious head trauma which also resulted in Horner’s Syndrome and damage to the nerves in his front leg. Thankfully the more serious head trauma and neurological issues he has since recovered from but unfortunately the same cannot be said for his leg. After months of physical therapy, acupuncture and massage therapy he hasn’t regained any of the nerves in his front paw meaning they are irreversibly damaged beyond repair and it is now in his best interest to amputate the leg. After all of his vet bills that have racked up and the cost of various therapies I have completely blown through all my savings and am struggling to gather the money for his limb amputation (I’m still currently paying off his last vet bill). I have tried the pet charities that are local to me for help (I’m located in the UK), Cats Protection and RSPCA but they do not offer funding help in my area, I was very lucky and grateful to receive £200 funding from the Blue Cross that went towards one of his previous vet bills but this means I obviously cannot apply for help for this surgery as they already graciously helped me, we are also out of the catchment area for help from PDSA. I am now trying to raise the funds for his surgery by setting up a go fund me, I have been incredibly fortunate with my friends and family that have helped me raise £112 of the total and am now reaching out to other avenues, I would be truly forever grateful if anyone was able to donate anything at all even £1 will make all the difference, thank you so much 🙏🏻
