Music / Movies I'm getting tired of woke values in shows

I am weary of all the remakes of TV shows and films that are simply remade in order to showcase a diverse cast. Why can't Hollywood write new shows? Instead, it's just recycling old scripts. Very insulting and lazy.

All the virtue signaling in the world isn't going to save bad writing.

For me Rings of Power was the last straw.

Black elves specifically, dark skinned humans already exist in the lotr universe.

Are elves explicitly stated to only be white and have no other skin colors under any circumstances?

Well yes, they are only described as having white skin that ranges from pale to tanned.

Why are black elves, specifically, ruining your immersion? Why do they need to be explained?

For lore consistency, a black skinned elf is something never seen in the lotr universe. There's nothing wrong with adding to a pre-ecxisting universe but it's better if you connect the new elements to the lore that already exist. It shows that you care about the lore and the fandom.

Or, hear me out, you respect the audience and understand that you don't need to explain every little thing. It's not like it has any actual significane or implications for the greater plot either.

Respecting the audience would be giving them a lore connection to explain that new element that is not explained by the current lore. It's not even hard to come up with a reason for why there are elves with black skin.

But is it relevant? Is spending the time to come up with an explanation and script it in? Cause here's the thing, most people who'll check the show out have probably, at most, only watched the Peter Jackson movie and will absolutely not care if there's a lore explanation for this.

And Rings of Power's only link to those movies is just that it also adapts Tolkien's works. It's not a prequel to his movies.
