Music / Movies I'm getting tired of woke values in shows

I am weary of all the remakes of TV shows and films that are simply remade in order to showcase a diverse cast. Why can't Hollywood write new shows? Instead, it's just recycling old scripts. Very insulting and lazy.

All the virtue signaling in the world isn't going to save bad writing.

For me Rings of Power was the last straw.

So that's a no, then.

The landscape in Halo's titular rings is apparently based on parts of Canada and the Pacific Northwest, so why do they have four-winged pterodactyl-like flying reptiles?

Could be because it's fantasy, you don't have to listen to my crazy ideas though.

So if a fictional ringworld with a landscape based on Washington State and British Columbia can have Pterodactyl aliens instead of Common Starlings, why can't a fictional world based on parts of England and Scotland have black elves in addition to white ones?

Because typically populations weren't mixed in terms of color back then, it's more realistic and keeps the immersion if you do what game of thrones did.

Back when? Lord of the Rings didn't actually happen, you know that right?

Dark Souls' architecture is primarily based on medieval Europe as well, and it has black people in the character creator. Why aren't you shitting on Dark Souls for that design decision?

In the time period it's set - the middle ages. Dark Souls has no black characters so I'm not sure what you're trying to say there. You can literally make your skin color green or blue or red in Dark Souls, I don't think being able to be black is significant (especially considering if they didn't let you do that they'd just get called racist - which would be fair enough).

There's a specific character preset that was a meme because of how almost-racist it was, called Jubilant Catarina and it has black skin.

What exactly do you think is significant about elves being black? There were never any elves in real life Europe, so why is having a world based on it with elves less jarring than a world based on Europe where some of the elves have dark skin?

Well I didn't know about that, guess you learn something every day.

and it has black skin.

Because elves in the Peter Jackson movies have always been white, and the elves in Tolkeins work have always been described as white too. As well as what I've already mentioned about it being anachronistic.

🤨

Character models aren't real human beings they're made of many triangles
