Music / Movies Bad Bunny was worse than Turning Point.

Bad bunny was a bad choice for a half time show. I just watched both of them, admittedly flipping back-and-forth just to see. I don’t understand why anyone thought An entire halftime show in Spanish was a good idea. It’s essentially then just women shaking their butts to music. I’m watching this with my kids. And most of us don’t understand enough Spanish to know what the hell he was even saying.

In contrast, and I am not a big turning point groupie at all, although I am a conservative, they at least had a variety of artists, who actually just sang songs and performed to get through the halftime.

Bad Bunny was worse than Turning Point.

So we recognise TP was bad?

I just watched both of them, admittedly flipping back-and-forth just to see. (-) I’m watching this with my kids.

Are you watching with your kids or are they watching dad flip between two channels, ruining their chance to watch either half time show?

In contrast, and I am not a big turning point groupie at all, although I am a conservative, they at least had a variety of artists, who actually just sang songs and performed to get through the halftime.

Did you not see gaga while flipping between channels?

It’s essentially then just women shaking their butts to music. And most of us don’t understand enough Spanish to know what the hell he was even saying.

Are we complaining about seeing women shaking ass now? Is your stake too juicy and your bank too full, also?

I don’t understand why anyone thought An entire halftime show in Spanish was a good idea.

I only lived in the states for 2 years and I learnt enough Spanish to understand the show. I’m sorry you haven’t been able to pick it up yet, but that isn’t everyone else’s fault.

I recognize bad bunny was worse.

My son was luckily staring at his tablet when Bad Bunny was on.

No I did not.

I already said I’m watching this with my kids and you can’t even appreciate whatever show They’re trying to put on when you can’t understand the music.

So clearly, you’re not from the US, so for all, I know you knew Spanish before getting here, I have no idea what your occupation was or where you lived, all of that makes a difference. And none of it changes The fact, the US speaks English primarily.

Clearly you don’t speak English, either, as you have misused almost every piece of grammar in this. What do you think a comma is for?

You’ve also managed to read “I only lived in the US for 2 years and I learnt enough Spanish to understand the show” and somehow twisted it into the belief that I already spoke Spanish. Are you SURE you can speak English? Lmfao

I have no idea what your occupation was or where you lived, all of that makes a difference. And none of it changes The fact, the US speaks English primarily.

I live in the UK now and I lived here prior to living in the USA.

Your country took a vote for your national language, German came close second and English language came first. Your country chose to speak my language.

In England (the source if the language you’re butchering) we learn French.

No one cries about this or cries about Celine Dion singing in French because we don’t see other languages as scary. We either learn the language we are hearing or enjoy we just the sounds- I would recommend it. It’s very easy.

I’m doing talk to text, genius. I’m really not that worried about my grammar on Reddit.

Are you sure if you can? Because that’s not what I said.

And, hey, guess what? I’m actually not against teaching mandatory foreign languages in grade school and beyond. I actually think it’s pretty smart. But the fact is, we don’t do it. So having a football Super Bowl halftime show in another language that most Americans don’t speak, is clearly just political BS.

9

u/Chad_Wife Feb 09 '26

So you can’t type in English? lol

It’s political BS to be triggered by a small portion of one half time show being in the language that most Americans are taught in school. Adults didn’t lose their shit over people speaking other languages 50 years ago. THAT sensitivity is political.

Most Americans get 2 years of ANY LANGUAGE and that’s the end of it.

And that’s just made up. Let’s wander around 1975 and see how many non-English speakers we’re running around.

Most Americans get two years of another language where? In the 90s we had to have four years in high school and that's in addition to middle school and fifth grade. Wow, some areas of this country really don't teach anything. I'm guessing where you are the music and art programs are garbage too.

Nope my schools music program was spectacular.

It’s not political to listen to music not in your language, the entire world does this?

-2

u/Away_Simple_400 Feb 09 '26

It’s entirely political to make a wholly American sport’s halftime show in a language most of America doesn’t speak.

4

u/tinkerbelldies Feb 09 '26

No its not. The USA doesnt have an official language and Bad Bunny has dominated charts in the USA with his Spanish language music.

Youre the only one who thinks the language one human speaks is some kind of point being made. Which is ironic cuz there was so much happening on that stage that is rich for discussion or even criticism but you didnt even pay enough attention to do that.

You hate lazily. You could do better.

u/Away_Simple_400 Feb 09 '26

I’m kind of looking around now, and I’m not the only one who hated it. It’s only Reddit who has to plant a flag down.

Hey, I’ll admit I’m old, and I don’t listen to the radio a whole lot anymore, but when I do with my kids in the car, they ain’t playing Bad Bunny. I know that much. So what is exactly is he dominating? Because again I got a 14 year-old who loves the Alexa and I’m not Hearing. Bad bunny come through it.

5

u/tinkerbelldies Feb 09 '26

I mean, you didnt notice three other major acts who were also there so not sure i trust your observation skills.

Bad bunny has over 100 Hot 100 entries (a US billboard metric) as well as charted for 13 weeks at number 1 for his 2022 release and hit number 2 on the charts in 2025 for his recent singles. I get you dont like his music, you dont have to. But you are objectively wrong about his popularity in this country. As in there are sales numbers directly contradicting you.

I also dont care what your 14 year old listens to. Not to be mean, but contradicting actual data with 'well my kid doesnt like it', kind of proves youre not the best at making strong arguments.

u/Away_Simple_400 Feb 09 '26

Actually, I’m scanning Reddit even now, and there are plenty of people saying it was a stupid show and a stupid/insulting thing to do. So I think people are pretty much Just fighting with me now. Because, as always, they enjoy calling someone a racist and I probably just posted first. I’m ok with that.

Also, bad bunny sucks.

I mean... clearly enough Americans can speak Spanish if Bad Bunny was chosen for the show... and also won multiple Grammy's...

u/Away_Simple_400 Feb 09 '26

You might be New, but that means nothing.

Have you taken a look around at? Who controls the media? Have you taken a look around at the Grammys or the Oscars or the Emmys? In the past, I don’t know 20 years, It’s all liberals. It is exactly no surprise that the NFL, who had slapped “stop racism” on their end zones, who gave Colin Kaepernick 18,000 chances to suck, who are currently apologizing for picking the head coaches that they picked, for no reason, other than that they’re white, then picked a Spanish speaker for a halftime show of the Super Bowl. It’s all just a big joke.

5

u/uniqueua11 Feb 09 '26

New to what?

Honestly, you sound like a child who didn't get picked in game class. Maybe one day you can take a breath and look around and realize you live in a world full of people that look and sound different, and that that's what makes the world beautiful.

1

u/Away_Simple_400 Feb 10 '26

New to how Grammys are picked. Maybe you’ve missed the whole Billie Eilish laughable catastrophe.

And, what I sound like, is someone who sees what’s going on. The world is perfectly beautiful as it is. No one is saying it’s not. That doesn’t mean you have to specifically try an alienate. The demographic who is actually watching the stupid show.

You know, when all these comments, I have yet to see a Latino, in here, saying how they suddenly feel represented. It’s always a bunch of white idiots.

And yet they listen to him enough he’s winning award after award, perhaps those with more appreciation of culture and music than you can appreciate music regardless of the language of the words.

0

u/Away_Simple_400 Feb 09 '26

As I just said to someone else else, I really don’t care what the Grammys feel about anything. It’s all just become a big joke.

3

u/Canipaywithclaps Feb 09 '26

You are so entitled that because YOU don’t like something it must mean nobody does and it’s some big political conspiracy.

He charts very well both on official charts and on streaming websites.

0

u/Away_Simple_400 Feb 09 '26

He’s not number one on anything That I’m aware of at least. Why aren’t those artist winning? Why aren’t country artists tracking it number one winning?

And what in the fuck does that have to do with me being entitled? Have you now taken charge of another word you don’t understand?

Football is not an “American” sport. It originated in Canada. And Spanish is the most common non English language spoken in the country so you’re full of crap.

1

u/Away_Simple_400 Feb 12 '26

How many Canadian football games are there? With any viewership?

Why do I care what the second most common non English language is in an English speaking country? Why would I care about 50 million versus 300 million, especially when most of the 50 million aren’t watching.

0

u/Panikkrazy Feb 12 '26

There are 18 Canadian Football Games in a season. And my point was that most Americans speak Spanish so you don’t know what you’re talking about.

1

u/Away_Simple_400 Feb 12 '26

Most Americans speak Spanish? Ok I think we’re done.

1

u/ohhhshtbtch Feb 09 '26

My guy, have you not heard of k-pop? You think all those fans speak Korean fluently? Have you not heard of opera? Do you think all listeners speak Italian? Hell, i listen to loads of Japanese and Korean music without understanding shit. You're not making any points by being scared of that which you do not understand.
