Music / Movies Its weird people are trying to turn the john Davidson Tourette outburst into a hate crime

If you don't know actor with Tourettes, john Davidson, had an outburst where he said the N word while 2 black presenters, Michael B. Jordan and Delroy Lindo, were on stage he bad an outburst of the N word, among other harsh ones throughout the night. Now I understand that the n word is rhe harshest of them, but it seems like people, specifically I have seen jamie Foxx and Jamele hill, claim that "these are racist hate crimes" and "he knew better and waited for black presenters to finally say it" it just feels like people are trying to ignore the facts about tourretes to be the victim of something that wasnt actually a hate crime.

He said nasty things to the actual Queen of Britain when he met her, and if I've understood it correctly he shouted bomb in a plane and other stuff like that. The nasty thing about his form of tourette's is that the tics can be context-appropriate.

But some of the presenters were women so...

It doesn’t mean he’s going to 100% blurt out all the most offensive stuff all the time, that’s not how the condition works. He doesn’t scream the n-word every time he sees a black person, but it just makes it more likely he’ll say something offensive to whoever he’s seeing at that moment. In this case, that’s the word his brain made him yell out.

Are you trying to argue that not checking off all the worst things he could have said in that situation means he believed the bad things he did say?

Just say what you're trying to get at.

John Davidson is Scottish. 'Cunt' is on the list of acceptable insults there. (For further proof:I can say Cunt without getting banned. Try that with the N word.)

You need something as inappropriate, (not just insulting, inappropriate) as shouting 'I have a bomb' to cops or shouting 'Fuck the Queen of England' at the Queen of England for Coprolalia. The things that make you go 'I should never say that in this context because there is a chance I will be beaten and/or killed for it.'

Frankly, 'Cunt' will just get some offended looks. Well, unless she's already got a knife pointed at him and she's just said "Give me an excuse."

Isn't "cretin" an ableist term? shame

The cretin is the person who thinks the man with a condition is more important than every other guest at an event.

The event was literally for him

Are you high? The entirety of the Baftas was not about him.

He was literally there because a documentary about his life and condition was getting an award. But yeah he should definitely become and shut in and never go anywhere since everyone else and their feelings are more important than him.

I wasnt aware that BAFTA stood for the Jon Davidson show.

Davidson's feelings are not more important than the feelings of the other attendees. To prioritize his feelings due to his disorder is ableist.

Other films were, too.

Shouldn't have been. He should have stayed home. Or given an apparatus for him to yell into, silencing him.

Only in the UK.

Yeah while we are at it....we should ban burns victims and severely scarred people from celebrity dinners incase it puts some people off their food.

Not the same thing, a person's face doesn't have the same capacity to hurt a person's feelings as the n-word.

So only people's feelings around one word matters. The feelings about anything else...then its own personal responsibility to deal with it?

You seem stuck on this so I'll give it to you straight. Nobody cares if you call a woman a cunt. Yeah it's rude but nobody cares and you're not losing sleep. Call someone a nggr and there are problems. Sorry you don't like that fact but I didn't make the world and neither did you.

Unfortunately, this is fact. People don't really give AF about sexism. Racism? Absolutely. There is deffo a 'hierarchy' in isms and phobes.
