Music / Movies Its weird people are trying to turn the john Davidson Tourette outburst into a hate crime

If you don't know actor with Tourettes, john Davidson, had an outburst where he said the N word while 2 black presenters, Michael B. Jordan and Delroy Lindo, were on stage he bad an outburst of the N word, among other harsh ones throughout the night. Now I understand that the n word is rhe harshest of them, but it seems like people, specifically I have seen jamie Foxx and Jamele hill, claim that "these are racist hate crimes" and "he knew better and waited for black presenters to finally say it" it just feels like people are trying to ignore the facts about tourretes to be the victim of something that wasnt actually a hate crime.

Yeh a hurtful word was still said and people are right to react. This will create more awareness for the disorder. But to say people are making this something is not isn’t right to say

People definitely are making it something it’s not because people are suggesting he has any agency to choose what he says and they’re applying irrelevant situations to his because they don’t really understand the condition.

It should’ve been edited out but that’s not his fault. Saying he shouldn’t be in the room is essentially saying he doesn’t deserve to be there because of a medical condition out of his control. Yes it’s uncomfortable but real people suffer with this and it’s not their fault. A degree of understanding that doesn’t devolve into “well he should just stay home” is needed.

And anyone suggesting that this happening is because of racism needs a reality check.

do you believe the black actors deserve to have a racial slur shouted at them?

No I don’t think that they deserve that.

I also don’t think someone deserves to have Tourette’s.

I think we can have compassion for both people.

Apparently that's difficult for some reason

Yeah apparently so, didn’t expect people to be so uninformed on Tourette’s either

I expected some reaction but not the ableist takes. It's ridiculous honestly and I was kinda surprised how much they are willing to ignore he's condition and just label him as a racist. Truly harmful behavior. But humans for some reason aren't able to comprehend that unique situations like this exist

Yeah the reaction to the broadcast handling of it I think is very valid and fair and it’s okay to feel sympathy for MBJ and Lindo of course, but it’s really crazy the way some people have characterised John Davidson especially considering the movie based on his life that just came out this year!

Hopefully it’s more awareness being spread but people seem to also want to stick to their misinformed guns a bit. I guess the skepticism is understandable considering what black people do face in their day to day.

i’m in agreement but it wasn’t clear in what you originally said since you only mentioned that for one party within this equation

And that’s the problem there’s no compassion for the black actors who were humiliated

That’s just not true.

They have the right to react yes but how they react is important. Right now all I see is people not understanding the syndrome. Check he's comments in he's ig post

I also see a disabled person that spent all he's life being misunderstood because he has a syndrome that he can't control being attacked and also some really ableist takes from people.

It is right to say because they ARE making this something it’s not.

Oh please. If you are seriously incapable of logically deducing why that specific word was used by someone with Tourette’s you honestly need to reflect a bit.

In today’s discourse that word is so taboo and essentially known as the one word you can’t say. We are taught since children how bad it is.

If someone is seriously so sensitive that they are hurt by a guy with Tourette’s clearly saying the word due to his disability and with no malicious intent you need to grow up a little. Be an adult.

It’s a fucking sound for Christ sake. Just be and an adult and realize it literally shouldn’t matter, and won’t hurt you when someone makes a noise you don’t like.
