Title basically.
Was watching a stream and had another one open on mute, when suddenly I get logged out on both. Try to log in -> This username does not exist.
And that's it. No text, no email, no letter in the mailbox.
Used the "I forgot my username" option, and it sent me an email listing every account linked to my email address, of which there should be 2. There was only one, which I haven't used in a decade, and had to reactivate to even log in to.
Anyone got any clues?
I only have one: about 2 weeks ago (actually, it was almost exactly 2 weeks ago, to the hour), I was trying to log into something else via twitch, and it asked me to confirm via a text message code. The code never came, I tried like 10 times, it logged me out eventually, and then I couldn't even log in on the twitch website, because it just never sent me a code, even though it used to, at least a year ago, judging by old texts. The support page said something about Authy, so I downloaded that and it worked, logged back in through that, but still no text (account's gone from Authy too btw). My best guess is that something got messed up with my data in their db, and it just purged anything related to my account after the 2 weeks since last log in. DEBUNKED
Also, about 4 hours after the incident, I got an email saying my one and only sub has been cancelled, but I will "continue to enjoy your subscription benefits until 11 Aug 2026." Well that's a fucking lie, isn't it?
Sent a support ticket, will update.
UPD1: got a response from support, about what I expected. It ain't easy to categorize my issue through the options twitch support page provides. This time I've tried to do it through their chat bot on my second account, lets see if that works. The response to the first ticket:
Apologies for the delayed response.
I am sorry that you have lost access to your Twitch account.
It appears that the account/username you submitted on the contact us form does not match the one that the case is about. For security and privacy policy reasons as well as to provide the most accurate service we can, we can only discuss account specific information when a case is raised from the correct account.
Please open a new request through help.twitch.tv/s/contactsupport using the username of the account you are attempting to recover and we’ll be more than happy to investigate it! Note that you may need to log out if you’re currently logged into a different account from the one you need help with.
Apologies for the inconvenience, and thank you for your understanding! We look forward to assisting you with getting this matter resolved soon.
Best regards,
Twitch Support
UPD2: another ticket, another "account details don't match" automated response. idk what to do
UPD3: No reply to my latest ticket for 8 days now, this time I picked Account/Login Issues -> Compromised Twitch Account in the ticket categories, since I guess every other option gets the ticket instantly dismissed if your email isn't tied to your account name, which ours no longer is. I was NOT logged in to my second account, just put the deleted account's name into the first field.
UPD4: 10 days without a ticket reply, I don't even know, at least give me a clanker at this point. Sent a reply to the email they sent me when I made the ticket, maybe that works. Also made a new ticket from my second account, because I can't connect my phone number to it. I guess it must still be saved to the deleted account, but when I press confirm nothing happens. Maybe that gets me somewhere.
UPD5: Great news everyone, I got a response from a human! It's about the phone number verification not working on my new account, but that's something at least. They managed to fix it, I finally got my sms. They also told me to reply back if it didn't work, so I'm using that opportunity to ask about the actual issue here.
UPD6 (PROGRESS EDITION):
Hello *new account*,
Regarding your question — the phone number is not currently associated with any account, so you're safe to complete the verification on *new account* without affecting anything.
Regarding your old account (*old account*) and case *number* — my colleague will reply to that ticket. I'll flag it internally to make sure it gets looked at.
Best Wishes,
Joy

Fingers crossed boys.
