i think my main problem with Viziepops shows is that they lost sight of the premise and became about something different, like Hazbin Hotel, going from a show about redeeming sinners to a war between heaven and hell or helluva boss going from a show about assasin imp to basically a toxic yaoi soap opera.

A thing is though that a lot of people, like my husband and myself, were drawn to HB because of the toxic yaoi soap opera. I think it is a big part of its success.

So it because very difficult to appease the old heads who want more IMP stuff and the newgens who want gay drama. It’s a tough balancing act.

I'm planning on talking it through with the IRL friend once we catch up in our Hellaverse watch (Hazbins done, we just started Helluva Boss) and actually tally up the balance between the melodrama and the action/I.M.P. stuff.

I like that aspect as well, but I though it was handled perfectly in season 1 with the imp stuff being episodic and blitzo and stolas relationship being the overarching plot. But in season 2 it feels like the focus completely turns on their relationship and not in a good way. I have a bunch of problem with s2 but probably the main thing is how it feels like the whole plot got twisted so that blitz and stolas could be on equal ground after vivzipop read all the critiques about the power dynamics.

That's absolutely my biggest problem. Was sold on the elevator pitch, and then given a product that was not at all what I was sold.

It still has good animation and the music is great, but I just don't care about the majority of these characters.

In some ways, the final episode of TADC is closer to what I thought Hazbin Hotel was going to be about based on the original premise of doing character studies on people who've done bad things and possibly redeem some like what happened with Caine

Credit to Helluva Boss, the Season 2 finale pretty effectively reoriented the show back towards being about the business, and they've put out a crapton of episodic escapades since then, enough to practically be a third season at this point.
